World Old Chat option. For the love of god. Please.

I kinda like the new chat, especially the splash of colour. However, the new lootrun gui really doesn't fit into wynncraft.

 

Yeah, I think that the use of new colors is great, like in Cinfras, Ahmsord, and Aldorei. But I don’t like the saturated and bright colors of the Silverbull Syndicate. It feels too modern and new, and does not fit Wynncraft at all in my opinion. Like, I get having a modern-based company enter the game, if it is executed well, but it’s still supposed to be a fantasy world, right? It feels like something you would see in a mobile game.

I mean no offense to the people who made these designs, by the way. I think they look great, actually; they just don’t fit the world of Wynncraft very well.

Also, this is a separate thing, but what if each region with a lootrun camp had a different GUI? Like the one in SE might be darker and have those purple vines, and the one in Corkus would have that steampunk vibe with gears and stuff.

 

They made the lootrun gui look more golden and royal and brings down the saturation.

I think the thing most people say is different is that it’s not paper. Every gui except for the ability (which is just an awesome work of art) is paper themed and when they put it on a different theme it just rubs different. I think if they put some cool looking quartz stone pillars in front of the lootrun start thing near the sides and make it more like a wall with a banner with golden buttons then those colors could look awesome.

chat looks cool to me idk I like where they are going with it. The font is probably the best they could do with the resolution provided. I don’t think a more themed bubble letter font would be easy to read. Practically, I enjoy the new chat

 

I like the new chat too. The only thing I would change is making all of the fonts the same, but other than that, I like it a lot.

 

I'm not fond of the new chat but a) it doesn't really matter and b) as pointed out, you can use the old chat in older versions (imagine playing a version that isn't 1.12.2).

In my opinion, you shouldn’t have to use an older version to access a chat visual that you like. Plus 1.12 wynntils is discontinued anyway.
If the CT are willing to add an option, then sure why not, but if they won’t, then I guess we’ll just have to suck it up and deal with it.
it isn’t bad at all imo anyway

 

I'll take it over the unplayable lag in more recent versions.

 

first off thanks for the response, feels much better to see an answer from an official source after all this time

i didn't intend for the thread to have a riot feel, looking back on the original post i didn't hold back on expressing my dislike for the new design. the reason why i made the suggestion around an option rather than a reversion is because i can understand people having a preference for either of the chats. seeing as 1.12 still has the old textures i thought it wouldn't take much time away from dev work because from my (inexperienced) eye all it takes is remove the new features if toggled off

as much as i'm glad you cleared up my tiktok theory i have to say that the responses in the original discord thread very much lacked in comparison to the feedback from players. people were very much against the new look. you know how when websites update their appearance they typically do so after some time since reveal, as well as offer users the option to use the old design for one reason or another? i'd like to name reddit and imgur from the top of my head.

a lot of arguments could've been avoided if:

• we knew about the design long before
• we had an option in newer versions not to use it
• i took a more neutral stance in the original posts instead of being painfully honest and blunt
• people weren't set against the thread just because they like the new look (a lot of people like it and still want an option!)
• we received a response like yours sooner, which at least lets us understand we're being heard out

i apologize for the look the thread gave off, even though my original intent was to compromise on something everyone will gain from. i believe freedom of choice is really valuable in wynncraft and giving players a choice in how they see gui would add a lot to the customizability of one's experience. in fact, i'm pretty sure the newest patch updated some graphics in a pretty appealing way

Fair enough, i really want an options menu for things like that. I have made a thread about it but I can't find it.
