I really like these.
I have two quite good discoveries.
1. Gale's tomb. Found near the Hive. No puzzle however. Just a maze and enemies.
2. Original plans of corkus. Just a fun little easter egg that will reminder future generations about Corkus.

Too many. One for every single boss fight in Li and Qira AND finding a mythic? Stupid. The only viable ones are Gales Tomb and Ohm's Lab. The rest are too small.

 

Thats true. However, I had presented my facts in the form of a thought experiment, not a hard, This is what you need to do.
I'm thinking discoveries as little things that the players will find - for small amounts of XP. The big ones are where you gain levels.

 

The whole point of discoveries is for the player to find them without any hints. That's why the current discoveries aren't a part of any quests. For mythics, I don't know if it's possible to code them as discoveries like the other ones since they rely on the player entering an area. Discoveries should mostly be designed like Easter eggs. They shouldn't be too many of them and they should require multiple steps to find.

 

Right. I've added Old Dogun City along with some others. I'm not going to use Gale and Ohms, as this clearly isn't finished yet. I've ruled out any quest areas, such as Bob's Tomb. You get experience from LI as it is, and I think discoveries would sort of ruin the 'will I forfeit now or risk doing the next one' feeling. Mythics - 1) Items as discoveries seems odd and difficult to code. 2) Isn't getting a Mythic reward enough? Other's I've dismissed as being to insignificant. Thanks for all the ideas though.

 

Upon entering the white meteor for ???:
Lore: This great meteor struck the ground (number of years ago) and is said to have great magical properties. It is, however, quite unusual that there are rooms inside.#

Not really necessary IMO, ??? gives you enough on its own.

 

not the fact it's the quest - you've completely missed that. It deserves a discovery because of the mythic wand ''pure'' and the fact that it is talked about in quests.

 

Anyone with half a mind who read Pure's lore can make the connection, it's not hard.

There's also a loot chest IV at the Necklace Chamber in Corkus, yet it's a discovery. Even though finding the chamber is Rodoroc is relatively easier, it should still be a discovery since to be honest, you still need to make quite some steps in order to find it.

Spoiler: Directions

Go onto the airship in Eltom, as you do in the Hidden City quest. Instead of pressing the Stop Engine button, stand on the pressure plate at the top of the airship, then quickly run down to the bottom. The escape hatch should be open. Drop through it into the water below. There isn't much down there except a couple of notes from an explorer. When you want to leave, climb the wooden path to the cannon and use it to launch yourself back onto the airship. You can then stop the engine and end up in Thsead.

LOCATION: Volcanic island (triggers near the dead end of the cave)
LEVEL: 55
REWARD: 20,000 xp
