So I go to do the altar first thing after finishing ToL (because I have a bunch of amulets saved up). My build is this. I fight, avoiding the use of Curse because the boss is a bunch of phases, and I beat it in what seems to be around one minute, according to my phone's clock, without using any potions (took a few hits from the minions in the beginning, nothing after that).

Now maybe this is just the fact that I'm using pretty good gear (even though Altar of Sanctification with mostly the same gear was pretty tough). Maybe it's the fact that I'm playing Archer, although I doubt it since the arena is really small and the boss is ranged and usually shoots pretty fast, which is Archer's weak point. So I decide to use this build instead - level 56 normal weapon with tier 3 powders.

According to my timer, I beat it in approximately 3 minutes, with about 50% of that time spent on the last phase grinding through its elemental defense. I used one potion (3 charges).

(for reference, the boss is 5 phases of around 20k-30k health each, cycling through all elements plus rainbow except air, with a damage output that seems to be on the order of 500 dps)

Maybe Altar of Sanctification is just really hard for a boss altar, maybe Challenge of the Blades is easier than I remember. Maybe this is another case of Sunrise Canyon, where the boss is easier than I thought. But I'm not YY - it's really weird that I can beat this with a normal weapon 15 levels under.

Out of the three Lv 70 altars, Altar of the Legends is by far the easiest, definitively.

Challenge of the Blades overwhelms you with up to 16 enemies at once, all progressively getting stronger and moving in different ways(complete with VANISH IN A DARK ROOM).

Altar of Sanctification is a brutal endurance test of 12 forms and 125000 health, each one changing up its tactics to the point where the boss will, quite literally, never stop casting at the end.

Altar of the Legends tries to emulate Mage abilities as a mirror match utilizing Heal, Meteor, Teleport, and Slowness in lieu of Ice Snake. The first four forms each specialize in one particular spell dependent on the element: Fire has Heal, Water has Slowness(Ice Snake), Thunder has Teleport, and Earth has Meteor. Though they use all of them, each form favors one in particular with a higher chance to cast, more power, and shorter cast time. The last form utilizes all of them in their "favored" forms, and has only slightly less health than the previous four forms combined(12000 each for a total of 48000, versus 45000).

As far as what I can do to make it tougher, I really am drawing a blank until we get more spells. Adding more health won't do anything except pad out the fight unnecessarily, its damage is already quite high with an average 3000 damage Meteor and potent Teleports, it heals often, the minions are VERY tanky...

Hm, I didn't know Blade of Shade successive phases got stronger. As I recall, they were somewhere in the range of 10k health each?

First one starts at 9750, and increases by 25% from that mark per form; so form 5 has twice that.

    9750
    +12175*2
    +14625*4
    +17065*8
    +19500*16
    =
541120 health total for the Blade of Shade(each one has 10% regen).

Just finished this one a few minutes ago. AoE is pretty powerful, 500k health went by really quickly. It was pretty tough too, the damage is quite high and once you get going there's no chance to rest. Really fun.
