I agree with Linny, I like the idea that as a team you can work together to get all the levels maxed so you all technically have access to all the crafted stuff without each person actually having access to it.

That doesn't really make sense, I guess I'm trying to say that I think it's cool that if you're in a team of four, each of you can work on a couple crafting professions so when you all come together, you can trade resources and craft stuff for each other, it makes trading more important and gives everyone on the team a role, at least when doing a /soulbound/crafted/ironman run which I think would be the most fun IMO.

    Yeah, that’s another good reason.

Wait, so do quests that have profession requirements actually require your level to be at that level for a specific profession for you to start the quest, or does it just soft lock you?

Nvm; everyone would still be required to have a certain profession level.

Still seems like someone could have a very large hp pool, and then sit in a safe corner of a boss area.

I got over 40k hp on a mage, with 1.7k hpr.
    https://wynnbuilder.github.io/#4_07R0PV0JL0n60OQ0OQ0Jg0840Fq0t0t0A1g0P1g00000

If someone else had a build with high def and agil, (that is individually balanced by lower raw hp), they could reach absurd levels of ehp assuming the above mage isn't getting hit.

I got 1.4 million ehp on an assassin https://wynnbuilder.github.io/#4_06...9C7B9O920Xr0Xr0K40OH0pT1K1K262M2M1g000010009I
This particular build probably isn't great, I slapped it together in a couple min, but I could see someone making a build with decent dps and on the order of 1 million ehp when sharing with above mage.

Maybe share health by% of max hp instead of a raw hp stat, and divide all dmg by current number of players.

Glass cannon takes 50%, and everyone in the party is set to 50% health.
4 people are hit by the same attack, the dmg is cut to a 4th, but everyone takes the %. The result is essentially the average % the attack would do to each player individually without the soulbound mechanic.

Would prevent people from being complete glass, but players sticking around on the outskirt of a boss arena essentially afking could still significantly protect a dps.

Wait so do people still have combined HP, or is there HP still separate? Bc if the latter, then wouldn’t those be incompatible? Example: 2 Soulbounded players John and Jerry. John has 10k HP and Jerry has 5k HP. Both get hit by a flame thrower, initially dealing 10k damage each, but gets split into 2.5k damage each bc of the 0.25 multiplier. 2.5k damage is 50% of Jerry’s health, but 2.5k damage is also 25% of John’s health. So would John and Jerry both be at 50% health, or would they both be at 75% health?

I absolutely love it. This would be such a fun gamemode to play in! Would they need to be on the same world to use the soulbound character? Moreover, would the automatically party if two or more people are logged on in that character? There are still a lot of questions I have about this feature, but I think it has potential to be something really fun and probably very interesting in general! It would definitely pick up a decent crowd if it gained enough publicity, and honestly I'm already thinking of a few of my friends who I'd love to try this with if it ever gets added!

Yeah, they would need to be on the same world. But ideally, it would switch you to the world automatically if you selected your particular Soulbounded class and your other Soulbounded members in your group were online first. For instance, say John and Joe and Soulbounded. If John is online in WC3 as his Soulbound class and then Joe logs on, Joe would be teleported to WC3 only if he selects his Soulbound class. If Joe picks any other class that is not in the Soulbound group with John, Joe won’t be teleported to WC3.

For the second one, technically no, but practically yes. You could still create parties, but they won’t do anything besides display the team’s total health and average health per member since XP gained is already shared amongst group members.

I can answer any more questions if you have them. I’m glad you like my suggestion and I appreciate you taking the time to consider it!

for this alternative, Hp would be separate but dmg would be shared as a % of max hp of the hit.

A glass cannon with only a couple thousand hp getting hit would take a large chunk out of the hp of a tank in the party.

Oh got it. The downside with that though is that it’s practically as if everyone is as glassy as their glassiest member. Or put another way, if one person dies, everyone else does.

Because if say an archer takes a hit and goes down to 10%, everyone else will be at 10% in the group (to my understanding). Which would make any non-tank builds not viable and hamper build diversity and flexibility. Not to mention it would make dying from lag way too common and frustrating.

Remember that everyone still has the same total HP before, but everyone can take a lot more damage than they could of because they can feed into other people’s health.

I meant more of a party for ingame communication, and what if the world their partner is on is full?
    ________________________________
How would healing work, too? You said they'd need to be in AoE of mages to get healing, but at the same time their health percentage is the same as their partners? Also, what will happen to the health of those who aren't online? Will it go up and down with those who are and when they log on they'll have a few less soul points if their partner dies?

I guess I could implement a new command that allows you to chat with only your Soulboun mates like /s. I'll add that to the suggestion then. If the world their partner is on is full, the player logging on second would receive an error message along the lines of, "Your group's world is full! Try logging in again in a moment."

Healing consumables like potions work normally since they add a discrete amount of health regardless of your current HP. Whereas for healing based on maximum health such as mage's heal and shaman's totem, it would be based on the average of each player's health instead of the total health. For example, mage's heal spell heals 12%, 6%, and another 6% of the mage's maximum health when cast, or 24% in total. For players within the healing range, it's 20%, 5%, and 5% of the mage's maximum health respectively, or 30% in total. And let's further say that you have a Soulbound group with 4 players, 1 mage and 3 archers, each with 10,000 HP for simplicity.

When only one of them is online with a Soulbound class, that person will have 10,000 HP as normal. If 2 people are online, both will have 20,000 HP. If 3 are online, all will have 30,000 HP, etc. When a mage casts a healing spell, that spell will only heal the mage 2,400 HP in total (10,000 HP * 24%) and if any of the archers are standing in the area of healing, they will each be healed 3,000 HP in total (10,000 * 30%). So you simply take the average health of the group by dividing the total health by the number of online players, and that's what counts as the maximum health of the healer and those being healed. If all members were online and within the healing radius, they would heal in total 11,400 HP such as they would if they were not Soulbounded. Does that make sense?

Another example would be if you had a mage and a warrior. The mage has 5,000 HP, while the warrior has 15,000 HP. The average health would be 10,000 HP again, so if the mage cast a healing spell, the mage would again only heal 2,400 HP, and the warrior would heal 3,000 HP, even though the warrior has higher health than the mage.

This is a lot of math that I may not have the brainpower currently to understand (it is 1am and I am sick) but it really seems like you know what you're doing here, so I believe you. Thanks for taking the time to help me understand this cool new concept of yours! I hope someday it does get added because this seems super fun!
