Holy shit I didn’t even realize this happened.

Bring back my fucking shoutbox. That’s not a suggestion. That’s an order. That’s a demand. Shoutbox was a pivotal point in many cases of the Wynn community’s history, from Admintest1 saying “:)” to the time when it was filled with Imgur links to memes. Bring back my fucking shoutbox, now.

Memes over, why did it have to be removed? I mean, it still had the occasional fun conversations and in discord there’s way too much traffic, so it was nice to effectively have a private chat for larzlapis/lordmuttonchops/moss/bloww/aarontti/happynewyear/myself. Becides, it showed the older new threads (more than 5) and was a good indicator of spambot ding dong big bongus threads, as said before.

The tabs can be jiggled around a little to make room for it, it ain’t too hard to readd it.

getting the longest thread break was probably a more enjoyable game than wynn its self tbh lmao

maybe we wouldn't bother using it even if it were brought back

but it'd be nice to at least have some decency about putting the old thing to rest instead of forcefully tearing it from the site and then nonchalantly acting as if nothing of importance has happened

As I've said before, there should've at least been a poll to ask the community whether it should stay. "Discord is more used just use that XD" is hardly reason enough to remove it, especially with what everyone has said here. I'd happily put down my pitchfork if an actual valid reason was presented to explain the removal of the Shoutbox. Until then, I fail to recognize discord being more used as a good reason to remove the SB. I've been in the Wynncraft discord, and honestly, it's nothing like the shoutbox. It's crowded and lacks the simplicity the shoutbox had. I've yet to hear a good thing come out of people who have been there, but I've heard many occurrences of people spamming pornographic links/imagery, harassment, and generally unlikable behavior. One of the best parts of the SB was seeing "New thread posted in news and announcements by Salted: Update 4.1.3 the CSST update". It would immediately spark discussion alongside other threads that were posted there, and the feed acted as a great way for members posting in lesser-viewed areas of the forum to get their threads recognized early instead of just fading away into obscurity.

There was absolutely no reason to remove the SB if discord was more used. Both can co-exist. There was no community split happening, especially with how much the discord invite link is blatantly advertised both ingame and on the forums; there's no way a user can play Wynncraft and interact with the forum community without seeing a link to the Wynncraft discord at some point.

 

This. This just condenses all of our thoughts into one big pile of information. Must have been hard to find the facts from under the memes.

 

I thought it was important to compile everything after people started having meme arguments and derailing the thread a bit. I did want to include a lot more quotes, but I also wanted to keep them all relevant to why the SB should stay (rather than people being shocked at it being gone).

I suggest anyone new to this thread reads through it's entirety, especially those with the ability to re-add the SB. What seems like a trivial chatroom to some is a very valuable place where lifelong friendships were made and many good times were had to others. It almost shows ignorance by just removing it without notice or announcement.
