At this point, it's all but confirmed with a response that the staff have been told to ignore this thread and wait until we burn out asking for a feature that will never come back.

So I say we keep this thread alive, just as a constant reminder to reconsider.

What's funny about this is that you think time is on your side as an ally. You merely adopted the time. The admins were born in it. Molded by it. They didn't see the light until they were already men. But by then... it was nothing to them but BLINDING!

 

I can tell you the staff's plans right now. They're gonna sit here and ignore this thread until it inevitably devolves into shitposting because they're ignoring it, at which time they'll lock the thread because it's just shitposting, thus eliminating the suggestion.

Looking back at my initial message, I believe I know why the staff may have directed the community to Discord.

Think about this; the shoutbox is a built-in chat system so simple and so small in a whole forums website. The forums houses much more than chatting – sub-forums, fun games, introductions, and also current game news. The shoutbox is barely a part of the forums. (physically speaking)

Discord, though, rather specialises in chatting and talking. It doesn't have major components that would outdo its chatting system. The channels in Discord are not to post threads (you cannot exceed 2000 letters while forum thread limits go far higher than that) but to send short messages.

Banning someone for a malicious crime made in the shoutbox is much harder than inspecting people's messages in Discord. Shoutbox messages get deleted once they reach high up the scroll bar, but Discord has a history feature and audit log that show what people say or do in the discord server. Banning a forum account generally takes more than a deleted message in a chat system so small and simple.

This may actually be the reason why Discord is being used because it make sense lol

Two mods liked Bessons' post on why switching to Discord made sense, yet I see no resposne to any of the countless posts saying why we shouldn't get rid of the shoutbox. This is just sad.
