Plot holes or not, this still leaves the fact that you're removing a level 87 quest from the game, at a level range where losing one quest can adds ages to grinding. Besides, your suggestion also brings up new plot holes. Like, how does someone "save" you from death when you're somewhere too dangerous for anyone else to go, like CoW or Amadel. Or in the dark place in Fantastic Voyage, the only person to save you would be Relend, who doesn't exactly have the mental capability to do that.

I never said I was removing the quest, I said it was an entity unto itself. The quest stills exists my way, it's just a special case scenario now.
And mine has less plot holes, and certain messages can be added for specific areas, working on those now.

Then explain how you would have a quest that mentions you dying hundreds of times, if death isn't something that ever happens. The fact is, we already have the lore, and it's unlikely that such a thing would be rerolled.

I honestly expected this to be a joke thread. I have been pleasantly surprised.

The idea has potential, but there are a few issues.

Since you seem concerned with it being "realistic" within the fantasy world, I ask you this; Why would the beings that wounded you just leave you alone after you fainted? They aren't acting of self-defense, they're malevolent creatures that want to kill you.

More importantly, the Beyond the Grave quest does still mess with this idea. It's already been explained in canon that when you die, you visit Death, and he, for some reason, sends you back (my memory of the quest isn't that great, so this may not be 100% accurate). You can't just dismiss the quest as a separate entity, because it's not. It's very real, and does a fine job of explaining why dying doesn't really end us.

The concept is good, but death as a mechanic has already been explained through lore, though perhaps it could use a bit more detail. Good idea, but it's essentially already in-game.

For all the peoples who say "But there is Beyond the Grave.", OK let's follow the lore, from what we can see during the quest when you revive, you revive ~ where you died. So you can be revived and let unconscious where you died.

    BYE ! :D

    Firstly
    Secondly
    I fixed it.

And there's no denying that Beyond the Grave leaves still even larger plot holes than this.

Then you had only visited death once... That trashes like 4 lines of dialogue. Not too much, but I still like the current beyond the grave more than this

Its explanation doesn't make sense with current game mechanics, and those lines are easily editable to fit with a different story.

Sure, or you could just make a few small tweaks to the dialogue without adding this whole convoluted mechanic.
That hardly deals with the issue of monsters just chilling once you've been knocked out. Since you seem to be fixated on realism, then you'll need to do better than this.

As for plot holes; could you refresh my memory? As I said, I don't recall the events of the quest that well

It's hardly a convoluted mechanic", it's just an extension onto the death message that's already there.

And he finds you as you're being ravaged/just get injured, do you have a better idea to fix the quest? \/

You die. You go to Death's Mansion. You talk to death. He tells you that you are in hell and to go back to earth you gotta kill what killed you. You then fight the monster. If the monster dies, you're alive again. He also says that there is a memory wipe but he isnt going to wipe it this "one" time.

    This creates no issues.
There's no plot hole here. You die, you get your memory wiped, you get revived. There may be no reasoning behind it, but there's nothing wrong with that line of events.
It's a convoluted mechanic because you're suggesting adding something that already exists in the game, as well as editing that pre-existing explanation, rather than add a line or two of dialogue in the first place. It does the same thing, yet more efficiently and more logical (for the fantasy game that it ism anyway).
