Cool idea (ocean current pun intended), but it would probably lag the server to the point where it's borderline unplayable.

Well, I think that the code that @Ironraptor3 made is planned to be eficient (pls correct me if I'm wrong). I can't discuss this a lot, but if there are no particles involved I think this won't make the server unplayable.

Kid holy crap, I work for an hour to show that you don't need to check points OR use the distance formula, and you still skip through and say that it would cause lag :/

Seriously tho, any lag players would experience would be from boats themselves, which suck anyway.

    This is soooo.......
    GENIUS!
The thing that I like about this is that the currents will be even more realistic as you regen mana slower in water, hindering your abilitiy to "Fight" the current. Though I wonder, as I am no coding expert what would happen if you will ride a boat through the current? Will it push you in weird directions? For example if the current is going forward, and you come from the side on a boat, what happens?

No, they will just be slower. Make the boat to be pushed in certain direction it's too difficult. Of course, going in the right direction will make you go faster.

Nope, already had that covered in the code. You are pushed tangent to the direction it flows (The direction at that point in the current, in vector form)

Anyway the point i'm trying to make is that the servers need to be prepared for anything. I love the idea of currents but it's no fun if it crashes the server if we try to do something like this!

Er, so I have to correct that?
Aw... Well, maybe with a bit of Improvisation we can make that boats don't make the server crash:sweatsmile:. But, anyway, this happends maybe 1 time a year or 2, I think it's quite worth it to add this feature >:D
