Game Design My Thoughts On Mythics

    It's impossible to make everyone happy with a change to mythics because of the way they work right now. Keeping them as they are will make their value decrease over a long time, so the mythic owners will be pissed off. Increasing the drop chance would devalue them even faster.

    Decreasing the drop chance would make so that almost no more mythics enter the market, and the same ones that exist right now will keep circling around from buyer to buyer, or nobody will buy mythics anymore.

    Nerfing them would make the value of mythics decrease instantly, and the mythic owners will get even more pissed off, despite the fact that it's the second best thing to do, but here's the best thing to do with mythics:

    How to fix mythics:

    -Salted needs to allow Selvut to balance mythics.
    -The next mythics released would be untradable, this way, they could be freely balanced without breaking the economy.
    -New mythics would not be as strong as the ones we currently have for their level, but they would still be the best weapons in the game.
    -The level cap needs to be increased, so that the new high level mythics can be stronger than the current mythics.
    -Create new money sinks, like armor transmogrifiers, gambling, horse skins that can be bought with emeralds, cosmetic horse armor, being able to buy soul points with emeralds, being able to buy some simple particles for your character with emeralds, some great high level legendaries that can be bought for a stack of le, etc.
    -And finally, to avoid making the current mythics useless, they could be traded for one of the new higher level mythics of the player's choice.

    That way, a lot of emeralds will leave the market because of the money sinks, useless mythics like Pure could become useful because they could be traded for the brand new mythics and getting one of the new mythics could still be a great bonus to your damage, but you wouldn't be able to solo the hardest bosses in the game in 10 seconds with them like you can today.

    Everyone wins! But does it work? It worked on World of Warcraft, because that's what they did to their legendary items (equivalent to our mythics)

    making them untradable makes it even harder for people who aren't lucky enough to get them, ie most people

    This sounds great, I don't have many complaints and it is pretty well written. I top my hat off to you... If I had one so I might as well tip my hood.


    Anyway I am here to help out (kinda). I want some of you to understand that Mythics, if you read into them, have a story to each ID if that Mythic tells you it's lore. I believe that originally Salted wanted these things to tell a story, not to be super balanced. Sometimes you get yourself caught up in writting a story, you forget what you were planning originally. I am not saying this is a perfect excuse to make all Mythics unbalanced but it still adds character to each weapon than just something you pick up and use. Wynncraft wants you to be wrapped up and look around at it's lore and story, not it's IDs and PvP settings. You are a Hero, or the Villain, at this point we don't know until Dern and Fruma comes out. But for now we are just a wondering Soldier, helping those in need, gaining stronger weapons with a story behind each one, solving quests and solving that, which is unsolvable. You go to great depths, climb high mountains, endure Hell and escape Death itself. You are a Soldier who is just carrying out their duties for their king.

    Welp that aside let me actually get to why you are reading this:

    Mythics are a bit unbalanced but with a story behind. (Wont go into too much detail, figure it out yourself the next time you look at a Mythic.)

    Alright! So mythics are extremely rare, to a point where I decided I had nothing to do for a past week and decided to just... Grind... I had the Cosmic Armor and stuff on and I farmed and farmed for hours or days (cant remember really), either way I ended up with a pitiful 2 Legends, 50 Rares (all of them being relatively the same plus this isn't an accurate number), way too many Uniques, and God forbid I get another Normal. I was a bit disappointed that I wasn't able to get a single Mythic, I did end up with 2 LE from Enchanting, Selling, Grinding, so it wasn't all too bad. But it was aggravating and I really cant hold onto my Emeralds. So my chances of getting a Mythic are very very slim from buying them. I honestly hated it. So I continued and continued and just could not get a Mythic, no matter how many times I killed a mob.

    So after awhile I decided to look at the Mythics that people were auctioning off at insane prices (to me the most LE I ever had was 20 and man did that get lost due to item glitch which I was super angry at). So as I continued to look I wondered on how people got this many Mythics and how many hours did they spend getting them. I remembered out of 7,000,000 mobs you get one mythic. That is way more than you probably will ever kill in a good week of WynnCraft with Sleep, Eating, and other real life responsibilities like school and such. With the new update coming soon I do want to see at least something done with the previous or possibly new Mythics that involve some kind of balancing. Same thing with Class balancing and hopefully a lot of bug fixing. Wynncraft wont stay on forever, and nor will our adventure in this land.

    I hope this was all confusing to you cause I lost myself somewhere and started to type nonsense, so yeah. Sorry for the nonsense in here.

    I made a post a while back on a balance change for the flow of items and think it would make mythics more fair for all players and balancing them.
