    Minecraft:
So here is an idea i came up with awhile after seeing the new concept of powders. So i thought about adding a sixth power: A Neutral Powder.

Now, after something called constructive criticism, i have moved over to a "Loose Materials" concept item-wise, with the base i had set from the powder idea.

Now why should this be added? Well the idea is to improve a given weapon's neutral damage for bosses that resist all elements (I'm looking at you Qira). As well as adding health to armor to make some pieces of really good gear more usable later on in the game (like blue mask and a +2 attack speed Mummy's Rag to name a few).

There are several items that are used to improve these parts of an armor piece and weapon.

Note: Normal and Mythic weapons and armor cannot be given loose material boosts. Quest helmets can be given loose material.

What they do after being added to a item in detail and examples:

    Weapons:
For weapons, there will will be 4 different loose material items that add a percentage of neutral damage to the given weapon.

Ex: a weapon that does 100-200 neutral damage with a +20% loose material will now deal 120-240 neutral damage.

And here are the items used to improve weapons, all are found everywhere and the better percentages are found in the higher levels:

    Blade sharpening powder: improves Daggers
    Spear sharpening powder: improves Spears
Arrow tip sharpening powder: improves Bows
    Magic powder: improves Wands

    Armor:
For Armor, there will be 4 loose material items that will add a percentage of raw health to the armor piece.

Ex: a helmet with +800 health with a +20% loose material will now have +960 health.

    The various loose armor materials:
Loose Leather: found every where, better ones found in the higher leveled areas. Are used to increase health points of leather armor (including set leather)
Loose gold: found where gold armor drops, will vary in percentage fitting for the level range. Are used to increase health points on golden armor
Loose iron: found where chainmail and iron armor drops, will vary in percentage fitting for the level range. Are used to improve chainmail and iron armor
Diamond dust: found where diamond armor drops, will vary in percentage fitting for the level range. Are used to improve diamond armor

    Balancing:

Now with this new concept, there are new balancing methods for this item. And this time, it's different between armor and weapons.

    Weapons:
For weapons, i believe the rarity for the item will effect how many times it can be sharpened/enhanced.

    Unique: 3-4 times
    Rare: 2-3 times
    Legendary: 1-2 times

    Armor:
For armor, I believe keeping the original concept, being only one loose material item can be applied at a time. But i believe that adding the fact that once applied to armor, it cannot be removed. So be careful when doing this to armor if this idea gets into the game (probably after Corkus if anything)

More balancing and adjustments will be made as comments reply on their opinion of the matter.

    Other notes:

-With this item system, a new NPC will be in order. I think in detlas, cinfras, and Ahmsord a "Blacksmith" or anvil that can apply the loose material to an item.

-textures for the items will be as folllows:
    Leather for loose leather
    Golden nugget for loose gold
    Iron ingot for loose iron
Diamond dust would new a new texture, probably a color shifting powder pouch
Color shifting powder pouch for Magic powder
Rest of the weapons would use a gray powder pouch.

-"Sharpening powder" is just another place holder for possible future names. If anything, a new 3-D texture depicting a sand belt-like device that the Blacksmith could use as a visual explanation on how the powder sharpens the metal or whatever.

8/6/2016: Over hauled the item concept, replaced the neutral powder with the Loose Materials.

I would also like the through the idea of a Rainbow Powder as well, but the specifics of that one still need the be ironed out if i think that would be good for the game.

Notice: i also plan to release a re-working for the Tower of Amnesia quest and tower function with the new ability to re-skill your skill points in the player menu. The change however is quite useless, but what i will say, is that it explains why you need to get the tp scrolls to the guy...

Ehh... I can see where you're coming from, but I also feel like the point was to have the 5 elements be 'incarnated' in to powders that can be used on weapons.

Neutral's not an element, it's just like making the sword sharper or the armour tougher.

Would re-naming the powder to something else work out? I have considered going with scrap resources, but stuck with powder for the time being

The idea of upgrading items in a similar way is a possibility, but it would be tough to properly design something like that.

I believe if it were implemented, it would need to also take a percentage away from elemental damage/defense, making it the opposite of elemental powders and making it impossible to use both together to simply get more elemental damage

    2 things to be said:

    1) The multi-elemental powder idea I still need to iron out the details (not being one of those guys who makes 5 second ideas that are awful)

    2) Did you read my edit? I plan to over-haul the item concept if I get enough support for the change. Here is the edit for you to read if you need to:
    Opinion on the new concept?

    Bumping thread.

Next one will be in the after noon to the removal of the powder, and the moving in of theLoose Materials. Keep in mind: the basic idea will be the same, just completely ditching the powder as an item, for about 8 new items, with 2 new needed texture atleast.... Huh....

What would be gained from adding a loose material to an accessory? I think the weapons and armor are plenty alright for now, there are already 8 items and an npc needed to apply them to it.
