Just watched Frozen 2 on Disney+. I’m sorry, but it has to be my least favorite movie from 2019. I never thought I would like a 2019 movie less than Toy Story 4 and the lion king “remake”, but here we are.

First of all, my stance on the first frozen. It’s alright. It certainly has its problems, but there’s just something so magical about it (I think its the songs that make it so magical, which I’ll talk about later). Consider it a guilty pleasure of mine.

Frozen 2 is when things start going downhill fast

First of all, there is no plot. What seems to be a story is what follows. I will be spoiling stuff, but I don’t think you’ll miss much by being spoiled.

Elsa hears an annoying “OWOOOooOooO” siren noise, which coerces her to journey “into the unknown”. She remembers an enchanted forest that her father told her about in a tale, thinks that the siren is coming from there, and is ready to start her voyage. Anna, Olaf, Kristoff, and Sven come too, for the given reason that they don't trust Elsa alone, but the real reason is that Disney needs to sell merch. They go into the forest, magic stuff happens, and they discover two groups, the soldiers that've been stuck there, and the natives of the forest. Everything's a blur in my memory until the gang finds the ship that Elsa and Anna's parents were on. Elsa pushes Anna away like the cold bitch she is, and attempts to find other clues in the ocean, except she has more difficulty than she was expecting (y'know...ice powers...ice freezes water...ocean water doesnt freeze easily....hahahahahahahahahahahahhahahahahahaha get it?). Elsa finds a place where all the people she knew in her past are here (including the past version of herself singing "Let it Go", but they're...holograms? She finds out that the siren nose was coming from her mother (wow what a twist ahahahahahahahahahahaha), and Elsa freezes for some reason. Anna breaks the dam surrounding the forest, which unfreezes Elsa for some reason. I know there's stuff I forgot, but that should show you how boring and forgettable this movie is.

As stated in the last sentence above, this movie is boring above anything else, which is the worst thing a movie can be. It doesn't try to tell a good story, it isn't funny, and the songs...Let's talk about them. I like the songs from the first movie. They're corny, but in a good way, and I love that. The songs in 2 just have no flavor. I don't know what it is, but with the exception of maybe one of them, they just don't recapture the magic of the old film.

Normally I would consider a boring movie like this to just be inoffensive and harmless, but I tried thinking of redeeming qualities of 2, and all I came up with is...It looks nice visually?? Really, that's a given for any disney/pixar movie though. At least in TS4 I liked maybe one or two of the new characters, and LK2019 is essentially the same as a masterpiece, if it botches the details that made the original so special.

In conclusion, Disney is losing their touch. They haven't created an original movie that I truly enjoyed since Frozen 1, perhaps even Wreck it Ralph. Their sequels (like this one) and live-action remakes usually end up sucking ass as well. I'm afraid that their corporate greed is spreading to Pixar, not only because of TS4's existence, but I heard that their new movie out right now isn't as good compared to their best work. It's a shame too. In some ways, Pixar had a better track record than Disney; Coco, for instance, was amazing, and that movie only came out 2.5 years ago. *sigh*
