So as I was messing around with shaders and mods (which I made sure were legal), just to vibe up the atmosphere of Wynncraft and at some point I came to the realization that Wynncraft doesn't have any weather, nor does the day-night cycle affect anything at all; so in following the trend of bumping up Wynncraft to a more modern standard, I think these things should be considered.

    Day-Night Cycle:

The simplest way to make an impactful day-night cycle is to make certain enemies spawn at certain times of the day, or to make them spawn far more during those times. New mobs could even be made for this purpose, or even some current ones. We already have Werewolves as a mob and Time Valley has Dawn Bloom, Day Bloom, and Dusk Bloom, so it would be cool for these to spawn at different times.
We do actually have a little bit of this with fireflies only spawning at night, but it could be expanded on so much. Perhaps even the world itself could change at night; imagine lights turning on in cities at night, city guards moving away and despawning and being replaced to simulate switching shifts, and house windows closing.
I'm of the opinion that city citizen mobs should be completely reworked to have actual AI and do things but that could be its own entire suggestion, one for another time.

Another thing I would definitely love to see- or, uh... hear is music tracks getting their own night version, even if this were limited only to the major towns and cities. Songs in Wynncraft are always fast and upbeat with very few exceptions, so it would be insanely cool for each city (and maybe even surface areas like the Emerald Trail and such) to have their own more calm and peaceful versions, even having different instruments.
Final Fantasy XIV is a game that does this perfectly, and I would particularly use Idyllshire's day and night themes as an example.

    Weather:

Rain, thunder, and snow could be utilized just for aesthetics or have gameplay features. Now, ordinarily I would to go hard and suggest that Wynncraft go absolutely insane with weather far beyond vanilla and add special weather conditions for certain biomes such as the desert getting sandstorms, the Molten Heights getting ash storms, and Time Valley getting temporal fractures, but instead I'll just keep it to the basic 3 and save that idea for another time.
    • Rain could increase Water damage and lower aggro range of mobs in the area
    • Thunderstorms could increase Water and Thunder damage and sometimes strike enemies in the area
    • Snow could increase Water and Air damage and slightly slow mobs in the area
These wouldn't affect meta or anything because they would only be in general areas rather than activities.

    Conclusion:

Immersion is very awesome to have in a video game and having gameplay-affecting day-night cycles and weather would go a great distance to build atmosphere in Wynncraft.
    What do you guys think?

There's already stuff that uses the time of day (like fireflies or some of the robots in Corkus) but it's not a lot.

This wouldn't do anything like that. There shouldn't be any quests that force you to wait.
It would be more based on immersion. Realistically the most basic form of this could just make more zombies and other hostile mobs spawn at night, but I'd want to lean in the more immersive side of it. Aside from aforementioned city-related stuff, someone on the discord version of this thread mentioned the idea of the eyeball forest closing their eyes at night, and immersive stuff like that is the main idea of this suggestion: to make the world more dynamic and atmospheric.

and I believe Temple of Light SD still needs day.

    ALSO
Cloak of Darkness, Gleaming Sunstone, and The Citadel Sunrise Thingy all affect times of day and would disrupt the cycle. (I'm not sure if the features would work, but being able to control elements of gameplay using those trinkets feels weird.)

These vanity trinkets are all purely cosmetic for you; the day-night cycle is still active and only you can see the effects of your own vanity trinket, and back when Soul Points existed the trinkets didn't affect their regeneration. It's the same as setting the time in your housing.

Personally I like the idea of the eyes' pupils dilating (or turning into a bigger block) at night even if it's not currently possible

well obviously only you can see it
so the night music would come on at night even if it looked like day?

Yes, though perhaps a nice feature would be for it to always play the respective versions based on the trinket, like how the jukebox works

i think the reason why eyeball trees can't have time-based changes is because they are woodcutting profession nodes, which use a constant pool of structures to randomize from, and it's not worth it to change this system just for eyeball trees
