People like Salted could just have it toggleable if they can receive friend requests or not.

As for mods, the way I do it is that I look up this list https://wynncraft.gamepedia.com/Wynncraft_Staff and then I go and use the /find command on every mod to see if at least one of them is online, that way I don't have to add all the mods and I can still find one online when necessary. Of course, my way is a bit more complicated and tedious and your solution is also very viable, but we will see what happens if this ever gets implemented.

edit: another way that I sometimes do it (not as viable and doesn't work every time), is that I go on the forums and check online mods there, there's a higher chance of one of them being online ingame as well.

Oh also after some time, you definitely memorize some names from the mod team, I could definitely message 5-6 mods without even thinking about their nicknames.

 

The friend system definitely needs an improvement, but I just don't see the need of an entire rework like this.
Instead, all we need is the ability to check a list of the people who have friended us; the ability to toggle between not having to accept friend requests (default), having to accept them or not being able to be friended; and to /ignore people (already in the game).
Like it has been suggested, we could even be able to block people from using /find to find us, or to see us on the dynmap.
So if you want to be left alone you can just disable the ability to be /find'd, be seen on the dynmap and block friend requests.
Want people to not be able to friend you but want to make an exception? Easy, just temporarily switch to having to accept friend requests.

i personally disagree, as some of my irl friends who play wynn once in a blue moon, but i have them friended for if they ever come on randomly while i happen to be on, so i can message them. i think an easier way to fix the stalking would be adding a /block command, different from /ignore, /block would basically permanently unfriend someone on their side for if they are being a problem. this command could be ran again on a blocked player to unblock them. i think a command like block would be way easier to implement and fix most of the issues
