World Friend System Overhaul [300 Supporters 95.2%]

When I know of someone who often drops profession bombs during doc weekends, I often friend them so I can judge which servers might have bombs on them, and I know a lot of other people do this as well. With the system you’re suggesting, they would have to accept the friend request of every single person who does this, which they clearly wouldn’t be bothered to do. I know that the /find command exists, but you can’t seriously expect people to make a list of the players they would have friended to use the /find command on all of them. You might say that “the bombs tracker exists” but not that many bombs are actually posted on there.

(Also, don’t even talk about the bomb bell...)

Basically, your friend system wouldn’t work with this.

Seriously thou, get where you're coming from but, meh if you really want bombs might as well buy 'em to support wynncraft and pop your bombs

 

I just can’t really see the downside to being able to friend someone without them accepting it, though I believe there should be some way to “block” specific players from friending you.

 

Why should you be able to friend someone without them wanting to?

That is like me saying I have a girlfriend while she doesn't know about it or doesn't want to be my girlfriend

 

I'm completely aware that my system wouldn't work with this, I used to do this too, but I at least asked the person if I could friend them. It's a small price to pay for a good friend system. And my point stands the system should be changed, you only want this system, because it's good for you, but it's not good for anyone who doesn't want to be followed around like this. As stated in the original post, it often leads to toxicity and stalking. While I've never been the target of stalking, I've been friended many times without my consent and I was very weirded out when these people messaged me right as I joined the world or joined to my worlds just to say "hi" and some of my guildmates (and some people in this post if you've read it) were the targets of stalking which again led to toxicity once found out.

 

I don’t have a problem with changing the friend system. It definitely needs a revamp but I think that having a setting to turn off people being able to friend you without you accepting it with the old system staying as the default. Surely then everyone wins? If you don’t like people seeing what server you’re on, just turn that off. Though I’m sure the majority of people don’t mind other people adding them as friends. It doesn’t affect them at all except for one message in the chat that you’ve been added as a friend, but I can see how this could be a privacy issue (so’s the /find command, but...).

Once again, the system definitely needs to change, but I don’t think that completely removing the old features works for everyone, but making it toggleable would.

 

I would prefer the default as not being able to one-way friend (which is more logical) but otherwise good solution too

I haven’t read all comments. But i just wanna say. That poeple like salted, youtuber or mods are gonna get a lot of friend requests and prob gonna get spammed a lot of different players. You can fix this ofc bye having to type a command to see you friend request. but besides that. I have a lot of mods in my friend list. Just for when i need 1 i can see who is online. Thats gonna go away. A fix for this is to be able to friend a mod without them needing to accept it
