Durability On Weapons

    I know that your suggestion is more of a template, but it really needs accurate numbers for the prices and durability. It's mostly because it will heavily impact how annoying it will be to players, not to mention that it doesn't take into account other factors like attack speed. If all items have the same durability, it would extremely annoying to use Super Fast items, which for players like me that can't stand using super slow and very slow weapons, it's almost a deal breaker.

    Later tonight I'll go on and do a few test runs. It should help you get a better idea of what to expect.
    If the durability system is good, it shouldn't be too much of a problem (ie players don't have to constantly repair their items). Though there might be some disadvantages. For example, because low levels level up so quickly, you can use armor 20 levels below you without bothering to get a new build. If this was in place that wouldn't be true anymore. So maybe it would be a good thing? idk.

    durability would just make the game more tedious. although it makes sense, it's like the same reason GTA 5 doesn't require you to refill your gas when you drive around in a car for too long. it would just be annoying to have to repair your weapon over and over and over again.

    July 24th
    Increased durability from 1,000 to 100,000.
    Made the repair kit multi use.
    Added what happens when durability hits zero.

    Ok now items will never break... better be a lot more expensive to repair them ... really should just specify in thread durability should be enough to repair 2-3 times a week for an active player.

    Staff could just tweek if after added.

    Not really, because two to three weeks is extremely vague. What about slow vs fast weapons? Spell vs melee? And what do these weeks consist of? Mostly grinding, mostly questing? Are they ingame weeks (such as total number of hours?)

    It’s important to get a roundabout value so people have an idea.

    Items should have a different durability from each other. Although it’s more simplistic to give all items the same durability, it won’t work well with all weapons. It’s a lot of hit points, but it still disadvantages people who grind, spell spam, and use fast weapons. Not to mention that if you make the durability too high it would defeat the purpose of having durability. For example, people hang onto legendaries longer than normals or uniques, so if they had the same durability as legendaries, people would throw them out before they would repair them.

    The best way to go about figuring out durability is to collect data ingame and make a chart. Sort of like a chart plotting an item’s health versus their level and seeing how much health scales as the level increases. In this case, you could do durability crossed with level, attack speed, and/or tier. Then as extra work, you could pick a handful of items and see where they belong below, above, or on the curve. This would give an idea of what you’re going for for certain type of builds.

    Oh wait, I just realized something. Durability might screw with item textures since most are based on durability, especially the shop skins. We’ll need a CT or admin to see if this wouldn’t affect it.

    No it won’t. You can just give the items itemdata that shows durability like putting it in the lore, and not actually change the item durability.

    Also I agree each item should have unique durability. To start though they can make it based on attack speed and rarity.
