Hey, nice idea with solutions to afk grinding and plenty of detail. One question, how would the dog’s damage work?

    Would it be based on
    1) The mob’s level
    2) Your level
    3) You weapon
    4) Hp the mob has?

    Here’s my idea for this:

    -Dog damage caculation:

Damage you did in the last 10 secends times dog level, divided by thousand, split by five, multiplied by five

    Example:
Let’s say every tier gets 5 dog levels (brown has 5, black has 10, ect). And you did 1000 damage in the last 10 secends. You have max level max tier dog (25). 25 x 1000 is 25000. Split it by a thousand and you get 250. Split by five and you get 50. The dog does 50 danage every time it attacks, cooldown beetween attacks is 2s. That’s 5 times in 10 seconds. So you get 250 dmg in 10 seconds.

    This means that

    1) Dog comes out after 10 seconds of dealing damage
    2) Max level dog has 25% of your dps

    This fixes:
    1) Afk grinding. The dog only does damage if you actively attack.
    2) Op dogs. Dogs deal damage based on your damage.

To make it so a max level dog is not too expensive, i would suggest the breeding odds change to this:
    10% down
    60% stay
    30% up

This would make max dogs still expensive, but not TOO expensive, so people can get one without a ton of difficulty.

No, if you don't deal at least 30% damage, THEN you won't get the drops or XP. If you dealt, say, 40% damage, but the dog got the kill, you still get the items and XP

Can you possibly put more detail into the quest? Right now it seems like a fetch quest, which are pretty disliked.

The devs had to remove pets because it was a pay2win system. So technically, if these were obtainable without real money, then it can be done.

For the afk grinding, maybe you can make it so that the dogs can only damage mobs until 10%hp, so the dog cannot fully kill any mobs, preventing afk farming.

Just a side note, the devs are probably working on huge updates like road to dern or blahblahblah, so it is very RARE to see general suggestions being implemented, especially when they are "focusing on things that are game breaking rather than adding new stuff".

Totally agree, I just posted this because maybe when the game isn't under such heavy development, they could take a look at this and think, "Hey, that's a pretty good idea! We should implement this!" or some such.
Also, @FinnDestroyer, that is a great idea, I'll put that in the main thing

Perhaps not Auto attacking, even with your special circumstance, auto click is a thing we need to plan for.
Maybe have the dog collect items?
And you can set filters for emeralds, junk items, item tiers, etc.

The dog getting items isn't really practical, as if the dog got the items, nobody would get a dog because they might not get items.

The dog would have an openable inventory that you can remove items from, or the items would go into your inventory.
Please use common sense when accepting feedback.
Who would suggest something like that?

@Kraetys, I just don't think the dog should have an inventory, because that wouldn't be common sense. The dog doesn't have a pack where the items could go. I do use common sense. I have already had my share of hate from players on the server, so please don't bring any more to me.

I'm not saying give it a full double chest.
Like 5 slots, with filters for what he picks up.
Dogs can carry things in their mouths.

Kraetys suggestion is actually nice, have the dog collect the items for you.

I just think it's kind of strange. I guess the dog could have a mini pack that you could buy. I'll add it.

That just encourages semi-AFK grinding. You wouldn't ever need to risk going down from a camping spot to collect items.

This is otherwise a pretty good pet suggestion, at least compared to every other one. It's pretty airtight, but the quest is unnecessary and lazily-designed. Having no quest would be preferable to a fetch quest.

I know the quest is sorta fetch, but if you guys could give me feedback on the quest, that would be wonderful.

Eh, fair enough. I don't think any pets should attack at all, but that seems to be the only unique thing about this pet.

That's the thing. If the pet was totally like any other pet, it would lose it's originality, and I wouldn't be suggesting a new implemented "helper" idea, I'd just be suggesting a new buyable pet.

To prevent semi afk grinding, the pet won't teleport unless you're in a city, till then it stays on ground level.
Also just a small inv, 5 slots max.
