If you really were the "English hound" you say you are, you'd know about the existence of the singular they.

Are you sure about this? From what I've seen (looking it up, asking others), the phrase "Jim met their doom", or something like that is completely correct. While it can be used as plural, ex: "They met their doom", it can also be singular.

Actually, I think that the reason you have to buy the wig is because they can't tell if you're female under your helmet - not necessarily implying that the player is male (at least in Royal Trials)

Their is the possessive case of the pronoun they, meaning belonging to them. As in:

They left their cell phones at home.

Their is generally plural, but it is increasingly accepted in place of the singular his or her after words such as someone:

Someone left their book on the table."

If you really are a grammar hound then you know words can change their meaning based on general usage, such as a few of the words in here.

The player doesn't exactly... exist? It's safe to assume they're a genderless being as they have no origin from what we can tell from Recover The Past
