    Minecraft:
Add corkian polarizers, a mythic lootrunning item like insulators and simulators.
When this item is used, the internally determined provisional identification values are shifted from the lowest values toward the highest values, making it more likely to produce identification results with greater variance.

The intention is for this to increase the chance of obtaining a “very good item” while also increasing the chance of obtaining a “very bad item” as a trade-off. Would this achieve that effect?

It could achieve that effect, but the effect would be more pronounced if you just had it roll all ids on an item the same(i.e. all ids are 80% or whatever). The way you've suggested you can have objects with, for example, two ids you care about and one rolls good and one rolls bad, so the more ids you care about the less polarizing this item becomes.
