For some reason I think including super fast and super slow is quite needed. People argue that tier-stacking will be too op (cough fighting stick, also cough flipping gravitation crystal), but my opinion here is, nerf fighting stick or whatever gives you +/-tier without much penalty (weaponsmithing and woodworking).
Ingredients are based around the current weapon making system, so people don't really give a fuck to positive tier attack speed on crafted weapons, which renders fighting stick kinda useless. And in my opinion, they are really discouraging melee builds with crafted weapons because the randomized attack speed will screw up your base damage.

Also side note, tier stacking melee is meant to be high dps but glassy, so I don't think choosing attack speed that you desire could break the game. Even if they do, the ingredient involved would be nerfed in the next patch. So weapons being too op isn't really an issue here.

Well, with the way powders work, there would be a ton of extra or less damage even when being used as ingredients, to the point that super fast base damage on crafteds would legit be broken, and on super slow it generally would need something extra to keep up with the other attack speeds.

There's also the point of raw melee, which although not super commonly, could completely break, once again with super (and admittedly probably also with very fast- did I mention I kinda wanted to remake this suggestion?) fast. And no, with the current system, you can't "just" change a few ingredients to fix this, either super fast is broken or anything less than that is useless.

It's why I put the second option of just letting people choose attack speeds rather than adding all attack speeds to crafted weapons, as there would inevitably be some balancing issues- I suppose it's possible to make the attack speed spread Super/Very Slow to Fast, but I don't consider that exactly an ideal situation.

I'm planning on taking a look through ings and find what is possible and what ings could break what (comparing to our current item pool), but for now just excluding the extremes on both ends is probably the best way. The main part of the suggestion is about letting people choose the attack speed, after all.
