Personally, buffing weaker items would be less damaging to the playerbase, and could possibly solve many balancing issues if done right. However, there are also many items that are far too powerful, and should be nerfed to fit the game's needs accordingly.

For instance, I'm going to use mythic items in my argument here. Considering that they are the most used and most powerful items in the game, they have the biggest impact on player builds, and screwing up mythic item balancing could mean the difference between a completely unusable piece of gear or an immensely game-breaking item.

Take mythic boots, those unloved pieces of gear that are damn near impossible to use effectively. Everybody could agree that they could use a buff, right? Some mythic weapons could also use a buff, such as Inferno (which has a much lower damage than most mythic weapons and has those awful ids).

However, nerfing is also important to being able to balance a game effectively. Take pre-gameplay Az for instance. If Selvut/Salted had decided to buff all the other weaker mythic items to compare to old Az's capabilities, we could all agree that Wynncraft's mythic items would have rendered all other tiers to be underpowered and useless in comparison.

In the case of items, I believe it's not so much a problem of too much nerfing or buffing, but good judgement. I know for a fact that Grimtrap's lifesteal and poison were buffed quite noticeably for the Gameplay Update. I mean, what the hell? I also know that Monster was buffed at one point in time, which was a good thing, and well-needed. It's knowing when to buff or nerf a certain piece of gear, and how to do so. Yes, the playerbase may run on a rampant when they realize their beloved, broken/overpowered build is gone when gear gets nerfed, but many different players will be glad knowing that a certain meta build/item that was ruining the fairness and overall quality of Wynncraft got fixed.

The goal of nerfing is to fix an overpowered/broken meta build/gear piece that detracts from the overall quality of fair gameplay. However, over-nerfing can do more harm than what is otherwise intended. The goal of nerfing is to fix broken gear. However, if the nerf is overdone then you won't end up with a fixed gear piece so much as a gear piece that is broken in the sense that it is unusable. Buffing, on the other hand, has the same effect. The goal of a buff is to fix unusable/crappy gear pieces to become usable. However, an overdone buff will achieve nothing, other than the same item broken in a different sense.

Concluding my long argument, it's all up to the item-balancing lords as to how this will pan out. Their judgement determines how the quality of balancing in Wynncraft, and it's their job to fix broken equipment pieces. Like every single person on Earth, they make mistakes too. The Grimtrap buff was unnecessary, and should never have been released. Mythic boots all suck, and Inferno is only as capable as a legendary item. If they know what they are doing (and I'm pretty sure they do), this will be fixed Soontm.

Also, @Selvut283 , do you happen to know if there are any planned Mythic balancing updates for the future? Just out of curiosity. Because after writing a long post basically ranting about how unbalanced mythic items are, I'm slightly curious.

Using assassin against mage is a horrible idea. The point of assassin is high SUSTAINED damage, while the mage gets a higher sustained heal, meaning you will have trouble with mages regardless.

Totally glanced past this, my bad.

Anyways, I don't think hate / whining should stop you or whoever from announcing something. I imagine a good portion of the whining is due to not much collaboration with the community / feedback from players on how an item can be altered other than people saying "**** is OP, nerf/buff it." One person simply can't tackle the balancing of an entire game by himself (there are probably others but you get what im sayin).

    As I've said earlier,
I'm sure they get A LOT more flak about changes and still roll with it as it still proves very useful and helpful for players.

Since we're talking about buffing and nerfing, why not buff Pure? I'm serious about this. It's LITERALLY worse (or SLIGHTLY better) then Etheral. All we need to do is just raise the base dmg from 25 to 55 (which is Ethereal's base dmg). If a mythic is worse (or slightly better) then it's legendary counterpart then there's something wrong. Theese legendaries are meant as an okay-ish replacement for the Mythics; not an actual replacement! Or we could make powder slots fore Pure (I know it kinda goes against it's lore but I think useabillitiy is more important then LORE.) I don't ask for this just becouse I love Pure, but becouse EVERYDAY I see people make memes how shit is Pure. I see people giving ACTUAL PROOF that Pure is shit and worth using. It basically costs nothing now adays and I want that to change. Becouse we have all theese "OP" Mythics and then there's Pure, a Mythic which is just shat on by most of the communitiy. I just want a Mythic that's useable for more then 5 levels; and many people would argue that it's not even worth using for THAT long.
Also I don't understand why people are complaining abou Mythics being too OP. They're incradibally hard to get, so they should be amazing. Nobody would want things made out of gold if it wasn't so rare.
Mythics are like diamonds. They're very usefull and hella expansive. But just becouse the companies are not alllowing to mine too much of them. If we increased a chance to find Mythics, then the price would go down, everybody would start using them, and they'd all get nerfed (yeesh, imagine Pure getting nerfed more).
I would like to know your opinion on this @Selvut283 becouse I just want to stop being sad about owning a Mythic that gets lauged at by (nearly) everybody.
    P.S.
I make this post soo long becouse if I recall correctly either you or pretzule asked to put as much information as possible to what the player suggestes.

What is to say that powders are an impurity (i assume that is what you mean by going against the lore)?

It name literally is Pure; which means you shouldn't be able to add impurities to it, such as powders. But I do want to add powders to it. Becouse otherwise it's shit and people are just selling them to item buyers beouse there's no other use for them.

I meant as powders are of the raw elements within nature, they perhaps aren't impurities.

The only items that come to mind that are similar to Pure are The Specialist and Roulette, both of which are not spears. Are you talking about a weapon with no powder slots?

No they really aren't. Legendaries aren't "okay-ish replacements" for Mythics, they're so radically different in how they're made and balanced that the two aren't comparable. Legendaries are meant to be the top tier, statistically strongest items that players find normally while Mythics are meant to be, according to Salted, the "jackpot" of the loot roulette, essentially the items you HEAR about people finding but never actually find yourself most of the time. What about those two concepts are comparable? Mythics are leagues rarer than Legendaries, so it can't be their rarities. Their powers and method of creation are done in different ways, so it can't be that. No Legendaries were made as a "counterpart" to Mythics, and no Mythics were made as "counterparts" to Legendaries. Saying it like this is simply incorrect.

Also, I don't touch Mythics, so.

Okay, no. Everyone can clearly see that a lot of legendaries are good replacement for Mythics, as in "if you don't have a Mythic you can use this legendary". And it's not like there are only two examples. If you tried you could find replacement for most of Mythics in legendaries; here are some examples: Ethereal is good replacement for Pure, Ignition is okay replacement for Apoc, Judas is okay replacement for Fatal, and many more (sorry but I forgot all of them there was a thread about it but I haven't saved it :/).
Also on the other note I would like to ask, why when we were having item naming contest, some submisstions didn't make it becouse they sounded to similairy to other items when Ignition and Ignis literally share the first four letters???

Did it ever occur to you that mythics could be replacements for legendaries or other items?
You like Gales force? Try out this overpriced price of garbage mythic bow stratiformis, which expands upon it. Some of th issues with mythics is that they are considered to be what's being replaced, and this game is done the other way around, if it is considered at all, and I'm betting the majority of the time, mythics are ignored when making items.

For the second point, so what some items are similar. You can tell them apart, and that's what matters. We have thousands if items to name, so some will be close to each other. The majority of the suggestions rejected that way were an already taken name, and for those kinds of things in particular, we want really unique names.

Okay I see the first point.
But the second still stands for me. They're WAY to similar, and if we're gonna discourage people from making similiar names, then shouldn't we also change the name of one of thoose items? It's like a fat person telling another fat person to get in shape, while their going to McD's everyday.

I feel like the point of the naming contests are too create similar names. It's less of a your disqualified and more of a you won't win. It's an attempt to allow other people to create unique names

And about ignis vs ignition, you got Latin to blame there, not us
