A Small Change To The Rules

Swearing is technically allowed in the server, but there are toggles to insults, swearing and even blood for the younger audience, so I believe they have to follow a strict guideline for usernames to avoid possible misconduct.

 

Thing is, the server isn't build for young kids even if they do play. There are some fairly deep, violent or heavy things you do, even in the 2nd quest by poisoning the corrupt farmer. They have options, but I don't think it should be built around being more kid-friendly. I don't really see a reason why this shouldn't be added, especially if he didn't mean it, and plus there is minor swearing in quests and this 'offense' isn't even that bad (it's not like racist or offensive really at all). Interpretation is all in the viewer so maybe you think one thing is fine but the staff thinks otherwise, and while you are waiting for a name change I think it's perfectly reasonable to play on another account.

 

yeah, wynncraft is far from child friendly:

his name sounds cool, and honestly doesn't seem too vulgar-- vulgar is the amount of overpriced az's in the market

Just because the game is designed for a mature audience does not mean the younger audience will not play it.

The game is meant for kids. The only thing that allows maturity really are the swearing and blood (which at teenage years becomes normal too)

If it weren't meant for kids, they could have aswell used swears inside quests and show more explicit content. You just assumed that it wasn't meant for kids.

It's not an assumption... Salted himself I'm pretty sure has said this, and there actually is minor swearing in a few quests. What tf makes you think it's for kids? Just bc it's MC? Servers can have different recommended ages ya know

 

Server: has quests featuring grotesque images and scenes, people hanging, being haunted, a husband ripping the heart of his wife, animals being butchered in a disgusting environment, a colossal rat.

Staff: I sleep

Player: changes their name to "fwuck"

I am not sure if that would help... a player could just choose a name like fuuckya and try to you know... ignore a ban whenever the player gets one...
The player could just say the name sounded nice and should not be vulgar.

 

most of the point here is that they would be allowed to play on another account that has a name the server is fine with. So if they did this with bother their accounts, both would be tempbanned leaving none to play on. I don't think anyone's gonna do that... And also its not "ignoring the ban", your still banned until you change your name so idk how they'd get around it

 

Fun fact, if minecraft finds an account with a name they find vulgar, like fuuckya, they themselves will change it to something else.

I know that on many online Wikis, administrators will only ban the username and neither ban the IP nor the account itself (except on wikis where it's impossible for an account to change usernames, but eh). I know Minecraft is quite different from MediaWiki in a few ways, but if the staff had/could have an option to just ban a name instead of a UUID, that'd be cool. Unless you want to argue that people only use vulgar names when they themselves are vulgar, but that won't go very far.

Sort-of related to one of the offshoots in this thread: since Minecraft now gives a warning about unrated online content when attempting to play multiplayer, we can feel slightly less guilty about kids seeing mature concepts on Wynncraft.
