    I thought there was already corruption there. In the Forest of Light where the corruption bug was. Then again when I did that quest I was with another person so we both were joking and blocking each other's view.

    That's the decay, which is, as far as we know, completely different. It has different effects (the decay causes slow death of all life, while the corruption created the undead and the obsidian spikes and can take over minds.) and different different origins (the decay comes from a parasite/was brought on by the greed of the villagers, the corruption appeared when the Nether Portal was discovered and is thought to be the clash of light and dark). They're different.
