The fact that this could become reality is sad

I imagine 2 things can happen.

1. Community goes on a full on outrage.

2. Someone (maybe even a competent mojang employee) is able to continue supporting the Java version.

DLC? They already have Minecraft: Crossplay Edition for that kind of stuff.

If they decided to discontinue the Java version, it will probably take a big hit and even hate from the community.

It would also considered as a big loss to the creative mode community of the Java version (where plugin such as VoxelSniper and WE resides)

Don't forget to mention the entire modding community.
