The title is sort of self-explanatory. Trade market taxes are pointless and simply add an unnecessary price inflation to whatever item you wish to buy. Don't even get me started with how they inflate the prices of high-end endgame items and mythics; there is a good reason why people seek out the player who put a mythic or godly fabled/legendary on the market. The amount of "tax" you have to pay is ridiculous.

Also, the taxes do not go anywhere. The emeralds simply vanish from existence. Why? The whole point of taxes in real life, as inconvenient and (sometimes) unjustified as they are, is to be spent on the government and the country whether it be through paying for public services, the military, etc unless the government is riddled with corruption. If I'm going to get taxed for my hard-earned lootrunning money to buy the mythic I have worked so hard to get, I want the extra money to contribute to something.

I really don't see the point of taxes in the trade market. Either get rid of them or make them contribute to something. The devs can potentially get creative with this.

EDIT: Added an option to the poll that will only make mythics tax-exempt.

TL;DR: Taxes bad. Please be more creative and effective with curbing inflation.

I think mythics should maybe be tax exempt so the market can be used to sell them effectively.

Taxes help keep inflation down actually cause of all the money being dropped from mobs and quest rewards etc there's a constant flow into the economy but not all that much going out so this is one of the ways to control it (it's not the best, I agree but it's a necessary evil as of right now unless they come up with something better

It doesn't really even work as a counter to inflation because players simply trade their items in person if their item is worth more than half a stack. The system fails to target the source of a large amount of the inflation which is mythic trading and duping. People in the mythic market almost universally buy mythics in person rather through the trade market, so the tax system fails to fulfill its purpose. It really only serves as a major inconvenience to poorer players as the tax only serves to make worthwhile legendaries more expensive. However, I do agree inflation is a problem, but taxes in the ingame trade market fail miserably at tackling the issue.

You'd be surprised at how much money the tax brings in- even if i sell something for a few emeralds apiece (eg materials) the tax takes 1-2 emeralds off what i get, and i'm selling them in stacks on stacks, it racks up pretty quick. And yes, most mythic trades are done in person but there is still a small percentage that dosen't happen in person- these themselves take lots of LE out of the economy. As I said, it's really not the best at all but it definitely helps more than people think imo.
As far as mythic duping goes I'm pretty sure thats few and far between, from what i've seen dupers seem to get shut down pretty quick, and mythic duping seems pretty obvious. (also the duped items get deleted)

It seems to help with inflation, and rewards people for considering their purchases before buying them. If you seek out the seller and buy it from them, it's marginally cheaper for you, whereas if you buy it from the market you pay a small fee for your convenience.

It would be interested to see how they could make the taxes contribute to something, rather than just serve a purpose other than reducing inflation. I can't think of anything that really makes sense, but that would be a cool feature.

So not just in wynncraft but also other rpg games (I will be using world of warcraft) this is to get some money out of the economy. Iirc the term is sinkhole but I may be wrong. Basically, if everyone is just putting money in circles, no money is leaving the economy (other features for this are item identifiers and bank pages) so, to keep people working there is a tax

I may be wrong, but from my understanding this is why taxes are on markets. Also it does make sense even outside of an rpg

edit: also the whole ‘trade in person’ thing, yes you save money that isn’t an issue. Auctions in games are kind of “I have this maybe someone will buy” but if you sell it to a specific person you can negotiate, possibly get to know each other, and both sides end up fine

Please, for the love of god, MMOs such as Wynncraft need to come up with better money sinks. (I actually understand and fully support money sinks in these types of games. However, I don't like ones that fail to do their job).

Anyway, I've added a new poll option that will only make mythics tax exempt.

That doesn't fix the issue, in order remove this you would need to add something in its place. You said you understand that why and support it, but you are just saying remove it with no alternative. Maybe something such as "Decrease the tax on mythics" or 'Here is a new idea for taxes" vs "Make a luxury good exempt from taxes"
