Can We Just Talk About The Assassin Movement Ability

    First off: I understand the long vanish timer, but seriously why not a rework to the ability instead of a just a cut to the mana cost.

    Here are the main problems:
    1. The spell goes in the direction you're facing, not the direction you are going at. This means that if you are standing still and you look a certain direction, it pushes you to that direction. This makes it ten times more harder to control than something compared to like teleport or escape.

    2. The time was cut down - You when assassins are trying to go up a hill or a mountain, the only way they can is going around or using the jump boost from vanish. This problem works very well with problem number 1 to make it even harder to scale something (because it pushes you into a direction you're facing). Therefore you have to use more vanishes to scale something which leads to a higher risk of falling because of the boost.

    3. One of the shortest distances I've seen on a movement ability. This makes players use multiple spells and maneuvers just to get somewhere when any other class can do it with one move.

    How I recommend to fix it
    1. Make some type of vertical movement - I would rather have vertical movement than a jump boost
    2. You can keep the 5 seconds but (huge inspiration from @Flow of Fate's assassin thread check it out: https://forums.wynncraft.com/threads/assassin-in-1-19-52-supporters.256299/) either a bigger boost of distance or a speed buff that last maybe 10 seconds after the vanish is over would be great
    3. Using shift to make it so that you stay still instead of going at the direction you're facing.

    I honestly don't mind the other parts of vanish, only these parts are the ones that I am concerned about.

    I never thought assassin needed it, but now that I’m reading this I realized it would’ve saved me a whole lot of trouble.

    teleport sends you the direction your facing and escape sends you opposite the direction your facing, isn't that just assassin but longer (and backwards in the case of archer.) I've personally never had any issue with getting away with vanish. It definitely isn't more difficult than teleport, escape, or charge.

    The fundamental issue with vanish is that it isn't meant to be a movement spell in a game where you have to do a lot of movement to get around. It's really annoying to get around with vanish now, even with weathered letting it not cost any mana definitely an issue

    if you have an issue with vanish being awkward in fights this probably won't help

    I would say I'm indifferent to the whole of the ideas, 2 and 3 are fairly common sense but I can't get behind the lack of detail and possible bad ramification of 1

    If you cast the spell multiple times the invisibility time should stack. Probably with diminishing returns though.

    Honestly @YourDaddy I completely agree that vanish was not meant to be a movement ability. But I feel as if that is where it hurts the assassin the most.

    Oh just to clear things up, I wasn't addressing the assassin vanish ability when it came to getting out of sticky situations. I honestly believe that it is a great ability when you are trying to get away. What I was trying to say that as the only ability that assassin has that is capable for movement, it certainly stinks. And when it came to the difficulty portion, what I was trying to say was that vanish in situations where you are in a place where you can easily fall off and there are a lot of mobs, vanishing will get you away from those mobs, but it has a chance of pushing you off of the platform you're in. This also applies to scaling a mountain.

    To reiterate, I'm trying to apply vanish as a movement ability because vanish is the only ability to actually move the player. Therefore I believe that if vanish were to push you to the direction you're facing, it would be much better for not only control but it would also add vertical movement, which every character has, even the shaman.

    Honestly never thought of that. Only problem is that the developers specifically cut down the invisibility because they believed that invisibility for too was way to broken. That's why I'm trying to propose an idea that would help turn vanish into something that wouldn't be too overpowered but would at the same time help assassins out a lot. Also, all the additions that I recommended would not give assassins a huge pvp advantage.

    Boutta say something that might have a ton of people to like it and want it or have a ton of people hate me for it and call me out but tbh I don't find vanish very helpful and rather have it replaced with another spell, one that fixes Assassin's movement spell shortcomings.



    This video right here contains a boss fight made by Novalescent, I would much rather prefer it if the spell showcased here *Dash* (the spell that throws COW into a sort of teleport with loads of sweeping edge particle effects happening) would replace vanish, though it wouldnt repeat, it'd be shorter and it would do less damage but I feel it could help with Assassin being bashed on because of its poor mobility compared to other classes, being able to dash across wynn.

    Another idea would be to implement dash, but have it turn you invisible if you were to hold shift and then cast it

    Honestly I was pretty much about to just ask for a new ability. At this point the the dash ability may be way better. Really like that idea. You should make a forum post about it!
