I havent played wynncraft since around mid 2018, with there being so many changes to the game where should i start? i feel so out of the loop that its pretty overwhelming honestly, starting a new character seems appropriate but i also would like to get right into the swing of things, should i continue on my freshly made shaman or try to continue on some of my previous characters with their VERY outdated armor and weapon sets? just overwhelmed and would like some opinions of people who have been playing a lot more then i have recently.

100% create a new character. You seem to have already done that, so a few tips:

    1. if you've done the tutorial (I assume you have), you may have noticed it's heavily oriented around crafting. Crafting is not as important as the tutorial makes it out to be, and is purely optional. If all the info is overwhelming, I recommend just skipping crafting on your first playthrough, and get around to it on your second.

    2. If you are going to gather, if you get an X above your resource every time you gather, it's because your durability has run out. The tutorial doesn't go over this at all, and many players are confused about it.

    3. Since you said you haven't played since mid-2018, you likely missed the Economy and Silent Expanse update. The Economy update introduced these gathering/crafting mechanics, which like I said above, you don't have to worry about actually doing. However, something I missed above is that crafting and gathering is actually pretty useful in some cases. For example, as of right now, in lootrunning, a new ID called "loot quality" has been added. However, since the ID is only exclusive to gathering and crafting, you can only get loot quality by crafting.

Now, onto the main things of what you missed (which I'm trying my best to condense):
    - Professions. Read everything above. I may be vague, but the changelog at https://forums.wynncraft.com/threads/1-18-the-economy-update-changelog.238340/ explains it better.
    - Quest revamps. Heres a list of all the quest revamps:
The Mummy's Tomb --> The Mummy's Tomb (pretty much the same, but a bit better in terms of gameplay)
Suspended Flowers --> Deja Vu (It's awesome. Not just fetching stuff anymore, but actually fun.)
Frost Bite --> Frost Bite (Improved a TON, like Suspended Flowers.)
King's Recruit --> King's Recruit (better, but eh.)
Star Thief --> Star Thief (better)
    Maltic's Well --> Maltic's Well (better)
Spider Cave --> Infested Plants (eh)
Sister City --> Misadventure on the Sea (lol this one is really good)
Tower of Amnesia --> Recover the Past (also pretty good)
    - The trade market! Wooo! This is where you... well... trade. Not much more to say about this. This thread is helpful: https://forums.wynncraft.com/threads/using-the-new-marketplace.242896/
    - The silent expanse! Woo! Yeah. Endgame, just a new area.
    - Shaman class!
    - New quests. Heres a list of new quests: Order of the Grook, Olmic Rune, Silent Expanse Questline (A Journey Beyond, A Journey Further, A Hunter's Calling), Point of No Return, Dwarves and Doguns Questline (DnD 1 to DnD 4), and a whole hell of a lot of miniquests (slaying and gathering).
    - New dungeons, including Corrupted Ice Barrows, Corrupted Undergrowth Ruins, and Eldritch Outlook.
    - Fabled and Hunted Mode! Fables are a rarity between legendaries and mythics. That's all I gotta say. Hunted Mode is a mode unlocked when you finish the last quest in the game, A Hunter's Calling. The changelog at https://forums.wynncraft.com/threads/1-19-the-silent-expanse-changelog.256264/ talks more about it.

That should be most of the content. Anyways, the most important thing: have fun! If you're confused by anything, feel free to ask.
