To anyone here who is familiar with min-maxing and endgame building in Wynncraft, you know that the intelligence stat is the staple of any decent spell build. There is no better way to maximize your damage output other than by stacking on intelligence and mana buffs. Why use dexterity or strength to get one 12k spin as opposed to maxing intelligence to allow yourself to do 3 8k spins before your mana runs dry, for instance?

My solution to this problem is actually quite simple. If you are not familiar with motoki1's damage calculation thread, I highly encourage you to read it in order to understand where the formulas I'm using are coming from.

    https://forums.wynncraft.com/threads/how-damage-is-calculated.176082/

Anyways, the suggestion. I based my suggestion around the spell damage formula, but the idea would remain the same for melee (I'll make some examples for melee later as well).

Currently, spell damage is calculated as so:

(Weapon Base Damage)(Attack Speed Multiplier)(Spell Multiplier)(1 + (Identification Bonuses)) + (Raw Spell * Spell Multiplier)

In this formula, strength and dexterity are treated as identification bonuses. In other words, having a 50% strength bonus is the same thing as having 50% earth damage, or 50% spell damage. In fact, all of these bonuses are additive with each other.

Rather than making strength and dexterity an "identification bonus" as explained in the damage calculation thread, make it a separate modifier.

In simpler words, make dexterity actually double your damage and strength actually increase your damage by the percentage listed.

My suggested formula (for spells) looks like this:

    JUST STRENGTH:
    (Base Damage)(Attack Speed Multiplier)(Spell Multiplier)(1 + (Identification Bonuses))(1 + (Strength Bonus)) + (Raw Spell * Spell Multiplier)

    DEXTERITY HIT:
    (Base Damage)(Attack Speed Multiplier)(Spell Multiplier)(1 + (Identification Bonuses)(2) + (Raw Spell * Spell Multiplier))

I made a simple spreadsheet to calculate and compare the current damage formula with the one I modified. Here is an example build (a really damn bad one) that involves strength and dexterity (note that my formula does not allow them to stack. If dexterity activates, strength won't, and vice versa).

While the buff to strength and dexterity seems extremely powerful, there a number of reasons why I think it would be beneficial to the game:

    1) Less reliance on the intelligence skill
... which was my original intent when making this suggestion. Currently, as mentioned above, intelligence is a staple in any spell-oriented build: It grants immense DPS along with any benefits that might come from using spells (extra healing, stunning, mobility). By buffing strength and dexterity, it makes intelligence less necessary for spell damage output, allowing for greater build diversity. In the spoiler is an example of this using a Monster build I created.

    Damage Comparison - Monster.png
The two image shows Monster's elemental damages using the current damage formula, and Monster's damage using strength and dexterity as individual multipliers. While the current damage is already very high, it in no way compares to the overall DPS output by an intelligence-oriented build. Using the new damage formula makes the damage much higher, helping mitigate some of the importance in the intelligence stat.

    2) Increased support for melee builds.
By increasing the overall effectiveness of strength and dexterity, many melee builds might see increased viability by having a general focus on dexterity and strength SP. Here are some examples:
Currently, melee builds suffer in comparison to spell builds, offering generally lower damage output without any of the benefits given by spell-oriented builds (which can include healing, stun, mobility, etc.). While there are several problems within melee itself, this change might bring more attention to builds oriented around this type of damage output, making them more effective to use.

    CHANGELOG:
EDIT 1: Strength no longer stacks with dexterity, since the numbers were broken as fuck. Also added poll.

    EDIT 2: Added melee comparison.

The problem with this is that it makes Strength and Dexterity extremely powerful. Just look at the damage numbers, and consider the massive gap between, say, 60 Dex and 60 Dex 60 Str.

Yeah, I noticed that having dex and strength stack is rather ridiculous, so instead it would be better to have one or the other: If dex activates, strength won't. Similar to pre-gavel I believe.

Updated this thread a bit, still not entirely finished though. I'm hoping to develop my spreadsheets a little more so that I might be able to publish them for individual usage. In the mean time, if anyone has any builds they would be willing to share with me for this suggestion, that'd be great.

They still don't stack to this day.
The closest thing they do to stacking right now is the bonus element damage you get from strength will still be in a dex hit.

I can second that, they do stack. Need to do a bit more reading before you pass something off as true

I'll test in-game again to be sure, but I'm pretty confident in this since it comes from motoki's thread, and I see no reason why they would have changed it to not stack.
