Returning Player, Need Some Help

    So I stopped playing when Gavel was brand new, and there's been a lot of new stuff added. I checked the subreddit and people suggested making a new character would probably be best considering how much was added. Which class is the best class for a mainly solo run. My highest account right now is a level 59 archer, but I've grown tired of him, and quite frankly, there's a lot of overwhelming new stuff. Also could someone explain elements. I read that they have strengths and weaknesses but I don't really understand where and how to use that stuff.

    https://forums.wynncraft.com/threads/returning-players-read-this.189547/ explains everything. If you want, you could always wait until after the next update, which should be coming out soon (probably not SoonTM though :P ).

    Different classes have different advantages in solo runs - e.g. Assassin movement speed s u c k s but can solo bosses pretty easily. I personally prefer Archer, since I don't need horses (per recent testing, I can just about keep up with a white horse using Escape).

    Assuming you're not familiar with the post-Gavel item system and such, this thread might be helpful.

    Reading the changelogs might also be fun.

    Also you should be aware that WynnData exists.

    Addendum to my first post - the "Returning Players, Read This" thread doesn't include info about the most recent update (1.17), Dungeons and Discoveries.

    Personally, I'd say that every class has its merits starting over. Personally I'd recommend Assassin if you want something different from archer, you'll get up close to enemies but you can still do plenty of damage, take hits, and stun your foes.

    The elemental system works like this:

    Earth is the Strength-related element, hit slowly but hits hard. Items with Earth often have weaknesses to Air.
    Thunder is the Dexterity-related element, which lets you deal a lot of damage at a higher risk. Items with Thunder often have weaknesses to Earth.
    Water is the Intelligence-related element, it's great if you want to use spells as your main method of damage. Often weak to thunder.
    Fire is the Defense-related element, which usually boosts your heal and provides methods of healing. Often weak to Water.
    Air is the Agility-related element, usually associated with speed boosts. Often weak to Fire.

    As your progress through the game, you'll encounter enemies with elemental damage and resistance.
    Elemental Damage will deal more or less damage to you, depending on the elemental defense [Example, a chestplate may say +20 Thunder and -20 Earth] your items have. Try to have positive elemental defense!
    Elemental Resistance means that a mob will resist some of the elemental defense your weapon does in said element.

    Naturally, there's a lot more to the item system, which is why everyone suggests that you start a new class. The game does a good job of slowly explaining all this to you.

    I'm pretty sure there's a post by Tantibus somewhere that has all of the (intended) elemental tendencies listed out.
