    Hello all,

    I wouldn't be surprised if there are a couple posts about this already, but I couldn't find any for the life of me so here's my suggestions on horse breeding.

    I'm sure most of you have attempted to breed a horse at some point, or are saving up to for breeding. For those unaware, breeding is how you upgrade your horse tier. The current system is more than just a little difficult to work with, with an average of 118 LE and 62 EB spent to get a white horse. It's rather expensive, so I suggest tweaking the breeding outcome rates to be affected by the horse's level.

    Currently, the breeding chances are:
    • 20% for a higher tier horse,
    • 50% for a same tier horse,
    • 30% for a lower tier horse.
    By taking horse level into consideration, breeding two same tier, max level horses results in rates of:
    • 60% for a higher tier horse - 40% increase from 20%,
    • 30% for a same tier horse - 20% decrease from 50%,
    • 10% for a lower tier horse - 20% decrease from 30%.
    By calculating the current level of the horse compared to the max level of the horse, a rate is obtained which adds affects the overall rates for breeding.

    The closer your two horses are to max level, the better your chances of getting a higher tier horse.

    Thank you for reading,
    -Remikas

    Edit: I can finally post links!

    Credit to @Yuno F Gasai for calculating the cost to breed a white horse https://forums.wynncraft.com/threads/horses-breeding-prices.90224/

    Math:
    Calculate increment for single horse:
    (Current Horse Level / Horse Max Level) / 5

    Calculate total increment
    (Horse 1 Increment) + (Horse 2 Increment)

    Add total increment to default rates:

    higher = 0.2 + (Total Increment)
    same = 0.5 - (Total Increment) / 2
    lower = 0.3 - (Toal increment) / 2

    The final rates should always add up to 1.0.

    higher + same + lower = 1.0

    While I do hate the breeding system, it’s meant to be a money sink and nothing else. I really wish it didn’t have to be that way, but there’s nothing else to stop inflation.

    It is all just chance, though. Even with max odds with both chestnuts 30/30 you could still end up getting a new chestnut, or downgrade. You'd have wasted hours leveling up those horses, which isn't very fun, so maybe instead of relying on luck we get a "breeder" npc which would take 2 horses of the same tier and breed a higher tier horse, at an appropriate cost.

    Otherwise I 100% agree the current horse system is a yikes lol

    Tbh this is how I thought it worked at first (like two years ago), I leveled up to max every horse and I can tell you I prefer to pay 300le than to level up all those fucking horses

    problem is
    it's literately gambling, like almost the exact same
    You pay money with the possibility of winning something better, but has a low chance of doing so. you can also loose money/win nothing from breeding, therefore i consider it as gambling.

    The point is it's like real life, a lot of people are smart and don't gamble off their money in attempting to achieve something good, but with a slim chance of that item. Most horse breeders don't have a lot of money on them after they attempted breeding and not get a single black horse. The problem now is that you can just buy one off a guy in the trade market, which circulates money, which we don't want.

    Demand for horses from breeding is low because of everyone having knowledge of it's chances.
    I think we should also increase the money so it isn't just paying like, 4 le for a white
    as i stated earlier, it's starting to loose it's money sink value.
    Although people needed to breed the horses, they already did that and are just selling it now.
    increase price and its a 10/10 idea

    There are very big differences between horse breeding in Wynncraft and real life gambling. 1) You spend in-game currency that can’t be bought directly with real money 2) You always get something for each try. While it may be a brown or black horse, it’s still a horse whereas in gambling you lose all of your money 3)Your definition of gambling is too broad. Any RNG system by your definition can be classified as gambling, from random item drops to item rerolls. I’m aware of the loot box controversy, but just because Wynncraft does it doesn’t mean it’s to the full extent as say major AAA games like Star Wars Battlefront 2. While you may not personally like loot boxes for Wynn, it’s one of its most profitable resources.

    As Yuno stated before, you need an average of 118 le in order to get a white horse. If you’re a horse breeder, you’ll need plenty of stacks of le to stay in business. I assume you meant players in general don’t have enough money. But that’s still just an assumption. Even it was true, horse breeding would still be an effective money sink, especially for extremely rich players to spend their le on. And circulation is essential for any economy. Without it, people start to sit and accumulate vast amounts of wealth, driving up inflation and inequality.

    Again, your last claim is just an assumption.

    you need to earn that money, but i guess ur right
    i mean i like loot boxes in wynncraft
    But with loot boxes, you usually can't scrap something and get something worse in return
    like scrapping 5 godlies giving me an epic.
    for 1 horse
    75-85 le for a horse that you spent 118 le on.
    why would you horse breed in the first place.
    i couldn't explain that 1 in words lol

    Because of supply and demand. As rich players with white horses leave, new players arrive, and less white horses are created, there will be so little white horses out there that it will drive up the price up to the average price of breeding (eventually). Therefore, people would be incentived to breed horses again, especially since you could technically breed a white horse for less. Once enough white horses are created, the price will fall again and begin the cycle.
