January 23rd Tuesday
I made hummus (it was delicious)
I also made a coucous soup for dinner which was pretty dope.
At night we got permission to go out to Jerusalem (they agreed to let us out as long as the schedule tomorrow won't be interrupted) so we went out to have a couple drinks.

January 24th Wednesday
We dressed up like pioneers to recreate old pictures of the founders of the kibbutz.
We also decided to make a hiking trail for the kibutz.
At night we joined an activity the kibbutz had about Tu BiShvat (a Jewish holiday) the lecturer was great and we had fun.
After that we cleaned the mechina a bit and went to sleep.

 

January 25th Thursday
We packed all the equipment for the chovek (a two week trip around the country we planned)
Aya won't be home until Friday so I went to sleep a friend's first in ashdod (it was kinda awkward) we played Jenga a bit.
I thought them how to stack stuff

After that I showered and went to sleep.

 

January 26th Friday
I woke up and ate breakfast with the family.
Then I went to the mall, bought some snacks and a box for aya them I got on a bus to Aya.
There stayed at a gas station for half an hour and drank got Coco.
Then her father picked me up and we drove to hey school to surprise her.
From there we went home and did nothing until the evening.

 

January 27th Saturday
We woke up and made breakfast.
After that we went to see the goose babies her cousin has.
After that we went to do nothing at home.
She had to leave for a rehearsal (I snuck a cookie into her pocket).
Meanwhile I ate dinner, washed my clothes and dried them on the fireplace.
I also went out in the rain to gather 30 stones, wash and dry them in from of the fireplace.
Then I drew faced on them.
I also cleaned her room and left her a present.
Then I took a bus to be'er Sheva.
There I gathered all the mechina and we took a bus to midreshet been gurion.
There we walked to the mechina there and went to sleep.

 

January 28th Sunday
I woke up at seven and went outside to check on stuff and play with the cats.
The mechina we were staying at had a Alice in wonderland week so they woke up dressed up as animals and started sword fighting in the halls to the sound of classical music.
Then I was told that because it was raining overnight we can't do the hiking trail and that there's an error with paying the Hebrew Israelites, that's the whole day gone.
So we switched the hiking path and went to the ben gurion grave to start the chovek.
There I gave the stones with faces and explained about the little competition, they have to take a photo of the rock each day and we'll choose our favorites.
From there we started the hike, we were kinda nervous course we never did that hike but it went good.
At the end we got to a view point so we let everyone rest for a bit then did a headstand competition (ben gurion is famous for that), I won that competition.
From there we walked back to the mechina, took our big bags and walked to the bus station.
We took a bus to dimona (closed the deal with the Hebrew Israelites), ate falafel there (great deal on falafel) and then we gave everyone some free time course we were early.
I went to a candy shop and bought some candy.
After that we walked to the Hebrew Israelites village, we got there early so we did a quick pop quiz activity (we lost the notebook with all the activities so we had to rewrite them in the morning).
Then we started the tour, it was great, they are a society of vegans that don't smoke, don't drink (unless they make the drinks) and they follow the old testament altho they aren't Jewish.
Closet to the end I had to go pick up the keys for the Scout's tribe we are staying at for the night.
We got settled for the night and we played a game until dinner was ready (couscous soup with a salad).
After that we had a summary of the day, asked for feedback and gave tips to the other couples, the main tip was too have activities in case something happens or gets cancelled. After that we cleaned up and went to sleep.

 

January 29th Monday
We woke up at six and started packing stuff and cleaning the place.
I locked the building and left the keys in the window.
Then we took a bus to a hill were we ate breakfast in the rain.
The hike got cancelled cause of the rain so we went to a museum in the kibutz (it's about the Jewish community that immigrated from India).
There we ate lunch and then took a bus to be'er sheva.
From there we went to tel sheva (an archeological site) there we had a quick tour and started walking to be'er sheva.
We went to the the negev monument

There we stayed until sunset and walked to a bus stop.
We took a bus to where we were gonna sleep (a place for old people who came from South America).
We cooked dinner there and had a talk with a guy from the city council.
After that we had a summary of the day and went to sleep.

 

January 30th Tuesday
We woke up and packed everything
Then we took a bus to a central station in the eshkol regional council and ate breakfast there.
From there we took a bus to avshalom, there we helped did the water canals for a communal garden.
From there we walked to yated where we saw a guy who sculpts missiles that are shot from Gaza into Israel. http://www.rocketsintoroses.com/products.html
He taught me how to sculpt a snail from a fork.

After that we ate lunch in a playground nearby.
From there we walked to dekel where we visited the yamit museum. (Yamit was part of the Sinai peninsula that Israel had to evacuate as part of the peace agreement).
Then we cooked dinner (pasta with two sauces), ate and had Seder tu bishvat (planting trees, eating fruits and drinking wine while saying the blessings)
After that we cleaned and went to sleep.

 

January 31st Wednesday
We woke up early and got on private bus to the kerem Shalom passage between Israel and the Gaza strip.
There we met the man in charge (I was surprised to find out the passage isn't under army control).
We had a tour there, met the workers from Gaza and the Israeli workers and got really close to the border.
Turns out the Israeli passage is moving almost 200,000 trucks full of food, cloths and equipment to the Gaza side. The Egyptian crossing is open for three days a year and they can transfer 600 trucks over those three days, the Israeli crossing can do 1100 a day.
After that we got on our bus and went to the steel monument

It's a monument to the soldiers that died fighting in Sinai. It was originally in pitchat rafich (the Israeli strip of towns and cities in the Sinai peninsula). When Israel withdrew the moved the monument.
Then we started walking to kibutz sufa where we had a tour and explanation about the area and security situation.
We also ate falafel there.
Then we did a beautiful hiking track near be'ari.
From there we went to a mechina named yonatan (Jonathan for all y'all Christians). We cooked and showered there and then went to a lecture of the Israeli ambassador to Angola.
After that we cleaned a bit, day down to speak with the other mechina (I had a phone call with Aya) and went to sleep.

 

February 1st Thursday
We woke up and made omlletes for breakfast.
Then we took a bus to sderot (the closest city to Gaza).
There we met with a city council member who made a place for troubled kids that helps them socially, education wise and family wise.
From there we went to a grass field where we debated living there (they have a 70% trauma rate). Then we ate hummus with pita and pickles.
Then we visited a city kibutz. They have three tiers of membership, group economy (they all give their entire paycheck to the kibbutz and the kibbutz covers expenses, socialism), group consumerism (they buy stuff together at bulk so it's cheaper and then they all take as much as they need via a honesty system, third tier is just a social membership, economically you're independent but you take part in all of the events and life of a kibbutz.
From there we walked to a fortified Gymboree so the kids can play while we are at war (at that area they have 15 seconds to reach a safe zone).
From there we walked to the Scout's place where we had another talk with a city council member that used to be the deputy mayor.
We cooked majadara and chicken, ate dinner, had a quick activity then management took over.
We started facing the problems we have as a group, everyone said what's bothering him and we discussed everything. We started at 2300 and finished at around 0200.
After that we all went to sleep.

 

February 2nd Friday
We woke up at 0600 packed everything and got on a private bus to the north.
We stopped for a bathroom break asking the road and got to the Alexander zaïd's monument.
There we ate breakfast, had a quick explanation and got on the bus to nahalal, a perfectly round town and visited a weapon hideout from the British mandated.
Then we walked to the cemetery where we visited the graves of a chief of general staff (head of the military) and the graves of the first Israeli astronaut and his son.
Then we got on the bus to hanaton, there we set up for the night.
We prayed at the conservative synagogue and then went to eat dinner together.
After that we sang songs and told stories into the night.
Then we slept.

 

February 3rd Saturday
I woke up late, did nothing until 11 them I talked with my mom on the phone for an hour.
Then we had a lesson with the head of our mechina while eating his wife's cookies.
Then I washed some socks in the sink and let them dry outside and went to a friend's house in the town to wash my shirts, I also rode on his bike for a while.
Then we went back to the place where we slept.
Then we went on a short improvised hike to the water tank on the hill. We jumped the fence and tried to climb it but the ladder was locked.
We went back and then had havdala with the mechina in hanaton.
After that we had a lecture from a conservative Rabbi.
My socks were still wet so I dried them on a heater.
Then we ate dinner while a lecture from an Christian Arab.
Then we quickly packed everything and got on a bus to the Haifa bay central station. Then a bus to bustan hagalil. There we set up to sleep, had a summary of the day and went to sleep.

 

February 4th Sunday
We woke up and ate breakfast (eggs and salad)
Then we walked to the Baha'i gardens in Acre (they are bigger than the ones in Haifa).
After that we took a bus to Acre and started touring the ancient city.
We visited the underground prisoners museum and then got on a bus to karmiel.
Then we walked 15 minutes to the youth village set up to sleep, cooked dinner (Bolognese) and went to sleep.

 

February 5th Monday
We woke up early and ate breakfast
Then we delayed a bit and only got on a bus at 1300.
We went to beit jan and did a small hiking trail in the mountains to peki'in (druze village). There we had a tour of the city, an organic beekeeping business, youth movement and synagogue.
From there we took a bus to safed, we walked to our inn and had a quick explanation about tomorrow.
Then I spoke with Aya for an hour outside (safed is really cold), had a cold shower cause there were no hot water and went to sleep (my roommate turned off the AC and opened all the windows. (I woke up sick)

 

February 6th Tuesday
we woke up and went downstairs to eat breakfast.
then we went to an introduction talk with the owners of the inn (he's from Chabad)
after that I went to bandage a girl who rolled her ankle, then we joined the tour of safed (which is pronounced tzfat)
we visited an artist that did kabala art (kabala is the spiritual part of Judaism everyone would like to bury a century or two back, the vast majority doesn't even know about it or follows it. on the surface its mantras and meditating and astrology and bellow its forbidden books and demon summoning).
then we went to the bazaar (after the arabs fled safed the municipality decided to settle artists there) its really pretty there but super expensive cause of tourists.
then we went to the castle ruins on top of safed and falafel there.
we also went to the water collection hole w/o a flashlight there we started singing (it has a great echo), two American yeshiva boys also joined us and sung with us.
after that we went to the inn and had a little musical performance.
after that we went upstairs and did kabala yoga (amazing guided imagery).
after that we has a summary of the day both with the inn owner and ourselves. then we went to eat dinner and go to sleep.

 

February 7th Wednesday
we woke up at 0500 and got on a bus to Kiryat Shmona, from there we took another bus and walked to kefar giladi. there we had an explanation about HaShomer a Jewish organization from around 1910 that protected Jewish towns and helped set up the start of the IDF.
then we ate on the grass with a view from the border with Lebanon to the border with Syria and the entire valley.
then we walked and started a nice hike in the grass meadows.
we got to the snir nature reserve and walked to the monument to honor the helicopter crash in the area.
from there we went to HaGoshrim, set up for the night and then drove to an Ijump (a place with a ton of trampolines and foam pits)
we ate pizza and went back, as soon as I lied down my back started to hurt, I couldn't even roll over without being in intense pain.
the others helped me get in my sleeping bag and rub an ointment on my back, then I went to sleep.

 

February 8th Thursday
I woke up and my back was still hurting but I could sit up by myself and walk with a limp, it still hurt like hell.
We ate breakfast and went on a bus.
We drove to mt.hermon (the tallest mountain in Israel and the only place you can find snow).
We met the commander of the alpinists (a snowy mountains commando unit).
Then we saw the transparent studio (a mobile radio station) they gave us a shout-out.
Then we took the ski lift to the top and played in the snow.
After that we went down and drove to elrom.
Elrom has the biggest subtitles studio in the country so they get all the movies first.
We saw a movie about the war in a valley near Syria (valley of tears, look it up).
Then we ate shawarma and drove to the valley of tears. There we gave each other awards and got our chovek sweatshirts.
From there we started driving home, they dropped me off at Rosh Pina and I took a bus to Acre, from there my dad picked me up.
When I got home I showered, did my laundry and then my grandparents and great grandma came and we celebrated her 94th birthday.
After that I texted Aya and went to sleep early.

 

February 9th Friday
I woke up and played on my pc for a while.
Then I ate breakfast with my parents and went to a steak restaurant with my brothers and grandparents. I ordered a 350g sirlion steak medium rare with mashed potatoes and cream sauce on the side. It was delicious.
After the meal I went to the pharmacy to buy medicine for my throat and condoms.
Then we drove back home, helped pack the car and I drove to the beach resort where we meet the entire family from my father's side to celebrate birthdays and wedding days.
I took my cousins to the beach, then I went to the parking lot to wait for Aya.
We walked to our room got set and walked to the dining hall to eat dinner with everyone.
After that we sat down on the grass with beers, shandi and cake to celebrate.
After that we stayed up and talked.
Me and Aya went to sleep early because we both had busy weeks.

 

February 10th Saturday
We woke up and went to eat breakfast
After that we walked around on the beach exploring the creeks and bays.
After that we went back and ate pizza
After lunch we packed our bags and my grandpa dropped us off at a junction where we took a bus to Tel Aviv.
From there we missed a train, waited for an hour and then got on a train to went to sleeps .
There we ate dinner and went to sleep.

 

February 11th Sunday
We woke up
I escorted Aya to her bus at seven and then waited three hours for mine.
We had final class with some of the lecturers.
I made an improvised oil lamp and went to sleep.
