Magic is a part of the natural world that controls elements or concepts. Manipulating magic normally requires mana, which is a personal magical source in all living beings that replenishes itself. Overusing mana can cause exhaustion and in worse cases, make the user pass out. However, one can also use other sources rather than their own mana in order to perform magic. However, it’s universal law that there is always a cost in using magic, and those who find a way to skip this rule will face consequences.

    Magical Species
Every species within the world has a different innate magical level within themselves, and in some cases have a preference to certain types of magics. Some individual members of species also can be “gifted” to have a higher innate magical level than their species usually would have, and even use it on instinct. However, anyone can still be taught how to use magic regardless of their inherent ability, and even those who have lower magical innateness can surpass those with higher innateness with immense efforts and materials.

    Magical Cost
It is universal law that casting magic shall cost something for the user. Normally it would require mana, which is a personal magical source in all living beings and replenishes itself. Overusing mana can also cause exhaustion and in worse cases, cause the user to pass out. However, various cultures like Avos or Elves have managed to find a way to use other sources rather than their own mana to perform magic.

These magical practices are called druidism and shamanism, but can have different names in different cultures. Druidism borrows the excess mana within nature, like trees or plants, with lesser outputs and less effort for the user. While shamanism uses entirely different sources and sometimes in combination with mana for greater effect, these sources can range from electricity to the lives of others.

    Types of Magic

    Elemental magic

Elemental magic is a type of magic that is described as invisible forces that control and shape the physical elements within the Plane of Physicality. They are common as they are present everywhere, even in the body of living beings.

The magic in this grouping is generally known for their versatility due to the power to shape the element to what the user wants with different properties and effects in each element.

    Primary Elements

    Earth
    Earth.png
Control over Earth elements like soil, metal, tree, and stone.

Earth magic tends to be destructive, creating natural phenomenons such as shifting landmass and creating sinkholes. This makes Earth magic have an association with power, making it often associated with warfare.

Earth magic spells also tend to do the same effect, ranging from crushing an armored opponent or bending the Earth itself against enemies. Even if the magic isn’t used as a weapon, like forming a platform, it will still leave a mark on the land no matter what.

    Thunder
    Thunder.png
Control over Thunder elements like lightning and electricity.

Thunder magic naturally is chaotic and tends to dissipate quickly when unfocused, similar to that of lightning strike. Only some creatures or environments can sustain and focus to keep these magics intact. Requirement of control causes Thunder magic to be associate with dexterity, which finds itself useful in various of ways compared to Earth magic,

Thunder magic is more flexible compared to Earth magic out there, ranging from simply electrifying enemies to powering great machines. Thunder magic always needs direction and without it, it can cause a backfire that endangers the user.

This causes Thunder magic to be harder to learn and master. While not as destructive as Earth magic, Thunder magic is very specific and surpasses Earth in some cases due to allowing both destruction and creation.

Earth magic is good for general use, such as destruction and simple magics, but when it comes to specific use, Earth magic is outclassed by what other elemental magics can offer.

    Water
    Water.png
Control over water elements like water or any form of liquid matter.

Water magic tends to have more control the purer the water. Water that is tainted by other matter would require a combination of other magic like Earth magic. It was believed the reason the ocean was dangerous before it was calmed was the abundance of Water magic within the ocean.

Magic itself is theorized to have similar properties to water as they both flow within elements they retrospectively control. Due to this, Water magic is associated with intelligence, the foundation of controlling magic. Learning and using Water magic is a form of exercise to use magic more effectively.

Outside of healing and rejuvenating spells, Water magic is outclassed by other elemental magics. However, Water magic is still a necessity to learn if one is seeking to become a master at magic as a whole.

    Fire
    Fire.png
Control over fire elements like physical fire and magma.

Fire magic is similar to fire itself as while it is capable of burning an entire forest, it is also capable of offering warmth and comfort as long as one is brave enough to keep it under control. Without control, fire magic can quickly harm the user, which leads to its association with courage.

While fire magic can be used as a weapon like the Earth element, fire offers more defensive capability. Spells from Fire magic can defend the user physically with spells such as flamethrowers to fend off creatures, as it can also be used to enhance your body and push beyond by fueling your body with rejuvenating heat.

Fire magic is in the middle ground in terms of versatility but it offers a use among non-mages with control of fire, aiding in mundane tasks like cooking, forging, and more.

    Air
    Air.png
Control over air elements like wind.

Due to the great opportunity presented by the amount of matter it can control, Air magic is often associated with freedom. Just like the wind itself, that can range from a simple breeze to a disastrous storm. While not as destructive as Earth magic, Air magic offers the most utility with the control of wind.

Air magic’s utilities can range from agility by allowing you to float with the help of wind to defense by forming force fields out of air to keep you safe from physical blows. It’s also the most subtle, as controlling wind barely leaves a trace to the user, making it favored among assassins.

Air magic may need more skills and efforts to achieve the same power as other elemental magics, but the utilization and versatility it offers surpasses other elemental if used along with a creative mind.

    Minor Elemental Magic
These minor elemental magics are either combinations or branches of the primary elemental magics that control very specific and minor elements.

    Ice Magic
    Ice.png

A branch from Water magic, this minor elemental magic requires a lot of concentration and mastery over Water magic as the user forces the magic that usually controls liquid to control a solid matter. Ice magic users usually are powerful mages capable of casting frequent yet powerful spells.

    Electromagic
    Electro.png

A branch of thunder magic that was invented and only used by Corkians, it’s a technique that concentrates thunder magic into electricity before putting them in machines to power and operate them. While some Corkians may be unskilled at Electromagic itself, they can find their talent in designing and making machines that are powered by Electromagic.

    Blood Magic
    Blood.png

Blood magic is a branch of magic that comes from combining the control of fire and water. It’s usually looked down upon by those who are uneducated, but it proves to be useful medically and medical mages often use it. One can even use blood as a cost for casting spells instead of using their mana. However, Blood magic is a gateway to more disturbing magic that the majority will look down upon.

    Flesh Crafting
    Flesh.png

Mastery over Blood magic can lead to Flesh crafting, its magic is capable of shifting flesh and bone to one’s liking. While body modification can be a useful tool to enhance one's physical capability, it usually leads to inhumane experiments and horrific outcomes for the user or others. The use of Flesh crafting magic is usually banned and only used in secret.

    Other Magic
Magics that outside of elemental magics categories

    Cosmic Magic
    Cosmic.png
Cosmic magic is mysterious and has only ever been used by a race called the Olm, which leads the magic to having another name: Olmic magic. It is often associated with insanity but that may be due to other races being unable to comprehend the magic itself rather than being its actual property. Its actual property is the control over abstract concepts such as time and space.

What remains of Olmic artifacts give a glimpse of what cosmic magic is capable of, ranging from simple tools capable of shifting time in the area to structures allowing those who enter to view the past. It is quite possible that teleportation magic in the world is just a reverse-engineer of these Olmic magic from the space branch.

    Soul Magic
    Soul.png

Soul magic has a unique property in which it exists in both planes (Plane of Physicality and Plane of Influence). It is magic that uses souls as fuel and spends it in place of mana for limitless results, such as calling upon demons, creation of soul constructs, or enslaving souls. Soul magic is all considered a bad omen and is banned in every part of the world for the danger it can bring. It’s quite common for an army to be sent just to deal with one of these forbidden magic users.

    Influences
Influences are dubious in their classification, but nonetheless have similar properties to magic except somewhat alien and primordial. They are capable of spreading and influencing the physical world from land, plants, animals, and even souls, but the specificity of the latter is vague. These otherworldly influences also can not be controlled like magic without complication, which suggests some form of actual “sentience”. Currently, the 2 out of 3 influences seem to manifest a personality that embodies it. These personalities would be the “Realm Beasts”.
    Light.png
    The Light
Light is the most inactive of the three, barely spreading throughout the world even though it was one of the three that exposed itself to the physical world, as it was being worshiped by elves, guiding them and even allowing them to use its power. The influences can be described as angelic and pure with its power to make the physical world feel more orderly and blissful. Its Realm Beast is called Orphion and its gate is located in Gavel.
    Dark.png
    The Dark
The most elusive and mysterious of the three. While it is more spread through the world than the Light, the Dark tends to be more secretive and the area it influences is hidden from all sapient lifes. The influences it has brought onto the physical world can be described as eldritch as it twists lifeform and land into otherworldly shapes that still function and yet are equally alien as the light. Its Realm Beast is called the Dern Beast. So far its existence and influence has been unknown to the majority of the world.
    Corruption.png
    The Corruption
Born from the conflict of Dark and Light, it’s a deformed and mangled concept of nature that has been plaguing the Wynn Province. It’s the most aggressive and well known of the three as it seeks destruction through the physical world. Its influence is to render lands inhabitable and lifeform as reanimated undead to further spread itself. It can only be described as a hateful and malicious force that is dangerous to even the influences that created it. It has no known Realm Beast for it is chaos with nothing that could embody it aside from demonic entities spawn from its influences.
