This is not a simplification, this is locking previously free features behind a paywall. What are the justifications for this change? If people were complaining about the time it took to delete a class, why not just shorten the time it took? Not sure why there's a tradeoff between deletion time and class slots, but I don't understand this change especially when it only applies to new players and anyone who's made an account before this over the years is unaffected and also benefits from the faster deletion time, so it's not even a tradeoff for the vast majority of players to begin with.

Why aren't the slot changes for other ranks being mentioned in the patch notes? Champion is the only rank that gains a new class slot, every other rank is losing some. I don't think it's unreasonable to ask for changes to paid features to be explicitly mentioned.

(The first +x is how much of an upgrade that is from the current base of 6, and the second +x is how much of an upgrade that is from the new base of 3)
VIP goes from 9 (+3) -> 5 (+2)
VIP+ goes from 11 (+5) -> 6 (+3)
HERO goes from 14 (+8) -> 8 (+5)
HERO+ will have 11 (+8 from new base of 3)
CHAMPION goes from 14 (+8) -> 15 (+12)


This isn't just a nerf to future new F2P players who join, it's also a nerf to anyone who decides to buy a rank in the future since they now lose features compared to if they just bought the rank before this update. I currently have 11 slots, if I were to buy HERO rank after this update drops, will I lose slots and go down to 8, or will I stay at 11? If it's the former then I actively need to avoid upgrading my rank, and if it's the latter then that's one less reason for me to buy a new rank as I'm gaining one less new feature. If I want more class slots in the future, my only solution is to jump straight from VIP+ to CHAMPION. If a current F2P player (6 slots) wants a new rank after this update drops, then they need to jump from no rank up straight to HERO (8 slots) to gain anything, and they'll only gain 2 extra slots for that massive jump.

EDIT: Or will I gain +2 slots if I were to upgrade to HERO, for a total of 13? And will a previously unranked player gain +2 slots for a total of 8 if they were to buy VIP?

Please do not go through with this change to class slots. I'm all for adding new features to ranks, but removing a previously free feature and locking it behind a paywall, while also nerfing the amount you get when you do pay is not something I can agree with. If you want to give ranks new features when it comes to class slots, why not give current ranks an even bigger class slot boost compared to base? Or give ranked players a faster class deletion time (yes ik CHAMPION has instant deletion, but you can give lower ranks a quicker, but not instant time as well if you want them to have a new incentive).

 

Yeah shares used to be merely 75LE and now they're easily 130+ regardless of the new 5x conversion, ooh la la~

 

I'm not sure if I remember properly, but the original half moon dagger skin was heavily based off a weapon from another game, kind of like the old frosty dagger, so I think they changed it to not look like its copying another game, but I could be wrong.

Edit: So I remembered correctly, it seems to be a copy of the Ashbringer weapon from World of Warcraft:

So loot running seems like even bigger rng mess? Trial requiring 10 completions and only spawning after 20 when half the time you can't get run beyond 20 due to bad rng seems even more annoying.

 

I'm not too excited about these trails. This seems like once again we have the situation where already exsisting mechanics got nerfed and new mechanics got introduced to replace them that are more tidious/ worse then what was used to get the same rewards.

This is a pretty good update for gameplay for the most part, but the trials seem like a nerf to mission rather than a buff to lootruns. All three trial challanges that were shown are AWFUL. Also I don't get the statment on understanding that BMonk hasn't been in a good place and needs a rework and then nerfing it futher. The monetization on the other hand. God awful. I don't think you'll ever be able to beat Yacht allegations, maybe if you did an audit of your spending then people would finally shut up.

Reminds me of how I believe in the game Battlefront the devs said you could unlock DarthVader just by playing instead of paying for it and someone caluculated that it would take like 200 hours to do it legitemetly.

Another thing I thought of, now that you can only start with 3 classes we're gonna have a whoooole lot more "what's the best class" "what class should I play" "which class is the strongest" posts since that question now actually matters, and my go-to answer of "whichever you prefer, you can try out all of them when in doubt" doesn't work

With these changes I wouldn't be surprised if somone makes "crashing P2W server" video about Wynncraft.

 

Since some people seem confused (including the post I'm replying to) on how making ranks obtainable for free is a positive financial move for Wynn, I'm going to explain it here.

Yes, every time someone gets a rank for free they are losing a potential customer for that rank however, in order for someone to get that rank for free, it means someone else has bought the equivalent amount of shares worth of money.

Well what does this do? To put it simply, it puts the financial burden on the person who is more likely to spend money. The person without a rank was only ever a potential customer, the person who is buying shares (especially given the nature of shares) is far more likely to buy more shares. Basically it's a whaling model.

"Jaydon may never buy champion, so he is only potential money, but Johnny is clearly willing to fork up some cash because he's already spent 170 bucks on shares. Let's get more money out of Johnny."

 

Would it be possible to bring back the mechanic where, if you had at least the VIP rank and right-clicked on a player, you could ride on their head and move along with them? Or was it removed due to some legal issue and can't be brought back?

 

I would say the EULA plays a part in it, but they don't care about that anymore.
Likely it's just due to how easily it could be used to break the game at times, remember how easy it was to get into Temple of Legends?

 

Pay2Wynn is not it. I understand servers need some form of monetisation but loaned ability points, teleport to world events, and only 3 character slots for new players when you have 5 classes. I (and I imagine many others) beg you to reconsider this action.
