"Wait, are we all actually considering the idea of staying with each other?" Min poses the question to the whole group. "We don't really have to follow the King's orders once we're out of the hands of the guards. Don't any of you think he's a little...crazy?"

 

"I absolutely agree with that, not to mention i am not from the same species nor land. I'd very much rather to continue my adventures on my own, that includes the "training" he told us to do but training for me was my usual life. Adventuring and surviving does me well, i don't know about any of you but my situation is good alone and i'd prefer to continue my journey"

She pauses for a second

"And don't you all have some sort of goal or dream you want to achieve?" She generally asks the group.

 

''There's no inn for certain, but there are barracks near the southern gate"

''I agree." Thinking for a short while, I also mutter out: ''We should visit the General beforehand, though."

Johan stays silent to this question.

 

"You would need to consider the fact we might get bounties on our head if we refuse. Also I really don't want to die before reaching my goal"

 

"You all have a point, so let me ask the importtant question" i turn to the king and ask "What do we get out of this? If the only thing we get is glory and saving the realm then cool. I don't care about that. So what is it that the king of ragni can give to sway the minds of six people?"

 

"Not only swaying our minds but also our trust and faith about this, how can you confirm that whatever you said is even true? I have been tricked before and i'd like some evidence that the story u said is real and not just some random story you came up with to get more recruits to fight for you" Xylina adds

 

The king stands up sharply from his throne, battle armor reappearing. "Would you rather live your whole life fleeing the corruption? Or would you rather fight against the darkness? True heroes fight not for glory, but for the chance to stop the evil, the darkness! Leave my presence, and go to the training yard to meet up with General Liam!"

 

“You promise me ingredients for brews?”

 

"No, I cannot, but you appear to have leeft some potions in the back room. I will send a guard to fetch them." The king turns to one of the guards and says something you can't hear. The guard nods, then rushes into the room behind you to fetch the brews. He returns them to you, then takes his place beside the throne again.

 

I turn over to Xylina and quietly say "Hey pointy ears, I don't think he'll answer the questions"

 

"I don't think he will, he even ignored the fact that i never lived in this province"
"I'd say be ready for any possible attack from any direction, he was suspiciously talking to one of the guards, i don't trust him and his story at all"

"i don't like it that much but its a dire situation. These 5 strangers are the most i can trust right now" Xylina says within herself

Xylina gets her hand a little closer to her bow getting ready to attack and flee at any given moment, while she tries to hint for the 4 others to be alarmed of a sudden attack or spell from any or every direction.

 

"I must ask that you go to the training yard."

 

Xylina feels very suspicious of him now, she comes up with a quick plan on the spot

"Alrighty your honor" She says to the king
"Let's just go to the training yard and then we'll know what we'll do next" She says to the rest of the group, a decoy msg to the king and the guards.

She obviously wants to whisper something to the group, but can't risk the king seeing or hearing them.

Min still is very skeptical about the King's thought processes. She doesn't voice out any other opinions though. Min will go to the training yard as well but she'll find a position near Xylina since she trusts her the most out of anyone else in the group right now (it'll also be in whispering range).

 

I wave him off "Yeah, yeah I'm going" I'll follow everyone that's leaving

 

Voljin follows

 

The training yard is located not far from the castle, and you find it within minutes. Waiting there for you is General Liam. Beside Liam is a row of about six combat dummies, and off to the side are some archery targets. A ropes course lies behind the dummies, and it looks hard even for the most nimble of you.
When General Liam sees you, his mouth splits open into a gap-toothed grin. “Ey dere, adventurers. You must be the lot the king recruited. It sure is fine to meet you all. Dere’s been lotsa talk around Ragni bout you six, ‘specially you elf. Anyway, let’s waste no time and get to it! First of all, what are all ya’ll names? And classes?”

 

"Johan, Mage."
