sry for low amount of memes, just really wanted to post these on forums
Here's a trash meme I made for my video.
GUESS ILL JUST BE A HYPIXEL NOOB THEN
trying my best to argue with memes but i feel like youre disconnecting these "self-proclaimed builders" from the game community itself. im not a good spokesperson for this as i barely play the game anymore, though i do occasionally log on to check how some mechanics or types of builds work. either way even well-known builders have to disregard their own tastes and comply by the community standards when building for others
back onto the point, beta morph being adequate isnt my opinion, it's already been tested by selvut on the IM servers. this shit was on the super secret ele revamp disc (no leaks so shouldnt be a problem posting this?)
whether or not morph should be more than just "adequate" is an issue you can discuss with the item team. general consensus appears to be that morph is meant to be just an easy-to-get decent build that anyone can use and play the game with, but also not overshadow any builds with effort put into the making
anyway heres a lame relevant meme so im not derailing
A little comment on that screenshot linked: just ran the Aerie of the Recluse boss altar with Morph set and Awakening and I had no real trouble beating the duo; sure those pull and push spells were annoying but it was quite easily manageable (without a single potion, btw). Idk if I shall say it's really Selvut's fault then for not being able to beat the boss altar with the current morph set, but congrats if he did it with a downgraded version of it (Time for Qira/LI with current morph set?). If they want to keep it as a "meme set" then sure why not (wouldn't stop morph memes being made, tho).
Talking about Morph set... (random meme to stay on topic)
hey I should probably bump this
Put this one together quickly
If Morph is what classifies as a "meme set", which is to say something that isn't actually very effective at all and is generally only used for dicking around and showing off(e.g.: builds with as much -water defense as possible featuring Achilles to get millions of damage on duels against players with Curse) then you can basically classify any build except the absolute most meta as a "meme build" at that point.
That's too much credit for Morph. The conclusion from your statement is pretty much that a build is either meta and therefore it's good (and you even said absolute, so it's not any meta build) or it isn't and it can be put on Morph's level of awfulness. Do I really have to say this is not true at all or it's become obvious?
There are underrated weapons or armour pieces that do their job really well but aren't used frequently because they can't flex with a light blue name or they are underleveled (e.g.: Storm Surge or Capsaicin (the +walk speed and high fire dmg boost combo is pretty neat)): using them might already result in non-meta builds, however won't mean the build will be on Morph's level. There are even great mythics that you can't just slap a meta build on and call it great (e.g.: Cataclysm, Monster). So yeah, not every build except meta ones can be considered "meme builds" just because Morph is one.
Sad story, true story.
The distinction between a meme build and something that's effective is general use applicability, which Morph has in spades. Morph isn't a meme build, cause you get decent stats all-around from it. A Jack-of-all-trades isn't a meme. It's not the strongest, sure, but it doesn't need to be in order to be effective, and you seem to be insisting that it does. It's variable and effective, so...
- Most meta build ever
- High-tier meta
- "Standard" meta
- Good build
-> Morph is somewhere in this range
- Decent build
- Passable build
- Meme build
- Bad build
- Literally useless
I never insisted that it has to be the strongest to be effective. If you read one of my previous memes "answering" Madkurre, I said there that the set would not be super overpowered even if it's mana regen got adjusted to 5, but it would be at least somewhat passable that way. It's hardly passable now. 75 int means you pretty much won't get past the 50% mana cost reduction, as not every weapon will just give you 14 int to get past 89 for another reduction.
I already called builds that have 68 int bad in the past because casting spells every 2 seconds to make sure your mana doesn't run out is the most ineffective thing ever (also considering some spells have really high mana costs, such as Uppercut or Arrow Shield), but dang, they at least had mana regen to somewhat make up for it. Those were decent builds at most. Morph on the other hand would be happy to cast a spell every 3 seconds after you happily drained nearly all your mana at the beggining of a battle. Trying to keep sprinting just adds to this struggle. This is hardly decent but rather falls into the passable category.
You could rely on mana steal for a while but if the boss is either a Speedy Gonzales or can drain your hp in the matter of seconds then perhaps it's not good to prolong the battle too much (giving the boss many opportunities to kill you).
Really the only class that would actually benefit from the walk speed boost is archer because it has Escape but it loses the mana steal (group fights with mana steal... tasty), that minor walk speed is barely noticable on the other 3 classes (personal experience).
Therefore maybe, but really maybe it falls above the meme build category on the list but never ever above any decent build. Really the "meme" part comes from how many fcking times you nerfed it and yet you're still not satisfied and want to send it into oblivion.
Secondly, if you say you beat X, Y and Z endgame content with it you could also state the conditions under which you beat those: were there any life risking moments? Were you forced to resort to using potions? How much time did it take? Etc.; saying "gg I beat it, the build must be good then" is not enough; beating that content is just one out of the many factors that decide in what category on your list would the build fall into. LI was beaten several times with meme builds. Would that instantly classify those builds as decent/good? Doesn't the number of attempts heavily influence that?
Edited (would you guess that just because "rainbow slap was the standard meta" there were still better builds?) the list slightly to look like this:
- Outstanding, outright godlike builds
- Meta builds
- Good/Decent builds
- Passable builds -> Hello Morph
- Meme builds (that can still beat LI lol)
- Bad builds
- Literally useless builds ("Fighting Qira with your fists and no armor" would have been a more fitting name)
I like this classification a lot better.
this thread right now
Morph is a good build
I think morph is still good... ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
What about beta morph? Is it still decent in your eyes? I see no mythic that works with it. I really wanted nulli to fit with it, but nope.
Singu sort of works with it. Not ideal because Morph goes best with Archer, but it's not terrible.
Ok, got it. Thanks for a second opinion!
