Having more then one ring slot increases variation, not decreases it.

would be counted as seperate builds but it's (pretty much) the same.

it would be super funny if caid was important later on, multiplying until building a giant Caid-bot with the interconnected bodies of tens of thousands of Caids and a poop cannon

Actually, you have to divide the total amount by 2, if you think that Ring 1 + Ring 2 and Ring 2 + Ring 1 counts as a duplicate

 

you cant just divide by 2, doubles of the same ring only show up once. you need to re-add 1/2 the amount of rings to make up for this, before multiplying by everything else.

 

Going by wynnbuilder's ring count(240), the combination actually isnt just as simple as "Divide by 2"
In order to prevent any duplicate builds, we need to find the number of unique combinations of rings, which goes about something like this:

Let's say we have a group of 5 objects: A, B, C, D, and E, and we want to find the maximum amount of 2-object combinations between all of them.
First, we take object A, and have a combination of it and every other object: AA, AB, AC, AD, AE
Then, instead of doing the same with B, we instead take a combination of it and every other object EXCEPT the objects we have already combined(in this case, A), so the result is BB, BC, BD, BE.
Then, we continue this. The final list of combinations is: AA, AB, AC, AD, AE, BB, BC, BD, BE, CC, CD, CE, DD, DE, EE
Every unique combination is accounted for, and there are no duplicates.

This also applies in our situation, although with 240 objects instead of 5. The total amount of ring combinations is 240+239+238+...+1. While this sounds complex, it turns out that this is simply equal to 241 x 120, which equals 28,920 unique ring combinations.

 

Or, you could use another method:

240 C 2 = 240! / ((240 - 2)! * 2!) = 240 * 239 / 2 * 1 = 28680
This is the total combinations of 2 unique rings from a set of 240 unique rings
You can also wear two of the same ring, so:
240 = 240
Final total:
28680 + 240 = 28920
