I'm a bit late to this thread, but I want to give my own opinion on various community-related topics. This is all my opinion and doesn't represent the rest of the staff team, it's simply what I think after spending way to much time on Wynn.

The first thing here is that no one will ever be completely happy. Grian mentioned this when he announced that Road to Dern would be delayed: "We tried showing all the details of upcoming updates; we got unrelenting hate and disappointment. We tried keeping quiet about the details of upcoming update; we got unrelenting hate and disappointment." I feel like one of the issues with the community is that we can't agree on everything. In this very thread I see a post saying that mods should be more light-hearted and interact with the community more and another showing frustration at an admins sarcastic replies. Maybe that isn't the best example, but you get what I'm saying. There will always be backlash on stuff, and the reason I mention this is because I think it relates to why certain things haven't happened yet: the fear of backlash and disappointment.

When talking about the general state of the game you mention a bunch of issues, but a lot of them might just be issues for you and a small portion of people. For instance, if I went to 50 different people in game and asked them what they wanted added they will all give a different opinion. If mythics become more common I'm certain people will complain that "I spent money to buy mythics and now they're so cheap!" It's impossible for everyone to pleased sadly. A lot of players seem to expect all of Wynn to be catered around them... but sadly things don't always go that way. They're just one person in a million and all they can do is express themselves and hope their voice reaches many more people.

TL:DR: Not everything in Wynncraft will be exactly what you want it to be. And aside from making your voice heard there really isn't anything you can do about it.

Now on to my second point, which is about the 3rd thing you're discussing. Cults no longer seem to be a thing, at least on the forums. Instead there are now large groups with opinions they'll try their hardest to defend. They're tribes, not cults, now, where if you don't follow their hidden list of rules you've committed crimes against the community. Post a housing thread or something deemed a "profile post" and you'll be ostracized for a day. And there are other groups too, such as guild people, anti-guild people, certain groups on the discord, even the content team might fall into the category of a tribe...

Okay, maybe I was being overly dramatic in the previous paragraph, and I'm likely making some generalizations there. But groups on the forums need to be more open to one another and realize that other people might have some good points. And that's why we need to bring stuff like the Homestuck Cult back. It was something that brought tons of people all over the community together, same with events and discussion thread such as this. We also need to be open to other people, especially newcomers to the community.

TL:DR: Various groups on the forums seem to stick to whatever a popular mentality is, and aren't always the most open to other perspectives. We need to fix this by coming together rather than hating on one another.

The final thing I have to say is that times change. Friends depart, times change, and it's one of my least favorite parts of life and I really wish I could bring the good old days back. Unfortunately that's impossible and all we're left with is to put our best efforts into trying to recreate or exceed them. And sometimes that's impossible. I was probably overly philosophical and rambling here, and in the end I may have said nothing. My name is WithTheFish, and thanks for reading my Ted Talk.

Farewell, Bloww. I may not have known you personally but you were always and active part of the community and it will be sad to see you leave.

We said there wasn't much to do late game outside of Class Building, Guilds, and PvB. I think you're right about us wanting the crafting system, but there is a ton of grinding for players that wasn't expected till CT started talking about the whole 'hundreds of hours of content'. I think the marketplace and exchange are the real core of the update IMO. It adds a feature that was asked for extensively. The crafting could have used some more balancing in terms of time wasted clicking nodes though. That has always been my least favorite part of wynncraft: waiting for things to happen. I don't like running loot chest to loot chest, or node to node. I love the questing, long and short because there is a sense of accomplishment the whole time. I feel like I'm working towards something tangible. That's why CSST was so popular. It skipped the grindfest and got massive xp. I like the idea of going out and hunting for specific mobs and mob drops for crafting, but I don't like clicking timers like a mobile game. I enjoy the combat in wynn. That's why I played, not the grinding; but that's the kind of content being added I guess.
I never solo'd LI because it was easy. I enjoy a challenge more than anything. Hell, that's the point. It's a sense of accomplishment. So, No. I completely disagree there, but that's very opinionated it seems.
What? I did call them out, but not to force my will on them. Getting people's attention and commanding others are a little different, but you're choosing a weird hill to die on from my PoV.
But why? What did you or I do to make the update, excluding our supporter tags? I suggested plenty of things in the past, very specific things, and none of them were in this update. If I commissioned this update for myself, then the artists didn't capture my vision, that's for sure. I don't even know where we are now. 90% of what you said makes 0 sense to me after second half of the post.

If you're responding to my comments, I never said admins/CT shouldn't reply to players. In fact I think that's equally as bad as being agressive because it has the same effect: players aren't heard or able to discuss with the devs. There needs to be better cooperation from both sides and some more effort to explain why things can/cannot be. jpresent probably does the best job of being informative and fun with the players, but he has also become idolized to an extent after the bug squashening. I would mostly attribute that to his skills over his title though. tldr: no Admins/CT can be good too. Communication is key.

Sorry for not replying to any post but I don't have the time so have some likes I guess

anyways, I have a pretty big problem with this thread so far, it's the fact that no admin (nor ct manager besides bob thanks bob) has replied yet, even though they're the main concern of this thread for not only me but also a lot of other people. I don't like being pushy but this thread has been posted 4 days ago and it wasn't acknowledged at all

Yeah, that just happened because they hid it from us for 9 months and let us drone on about how awesome RTD would be in 1.18 and wondering about when it would come out, theorizing what we could do in there, etc.

Here, 500-600 hours of work & XP was thrown away and thrown to a level that takes barely a fraction of the time to reach. The response of the CT was "we worked hard so you dont get to complain" and "lmao you guys shouldve seen this coming it was karma for abusing a thing that we ourselves participated in" and then completely shrugged off otherwise. Moreover, it fucks over the people who were lvl 101 BEFORE CSST ever came out who are now taking the forced blame for this.

jpresent's (or someone else's) excuse to it that it was to motivate them to explore and see what is new in the world, ignoring that the 12 new things to level in & the need for ingredients and hunting those ingredients would more than enough cause motivation.

Some of the other responses were just pure pessimism and "its just virtual numbers!!!11!!!!111"

before that you need to make classes more mechanically complex
can't have dps if the dps just die and the tank isn't able to do their job or something

there's wayyy too much that wynn is lacking in terms of a standard mmorpg

in order to take steps towards becoming a better mmorpg
you must first observe what made other mmorpgs successful
    and simply
    STEAL!
well no you get the point
that first step should be establishing a paid team to pump out content, a foundation of sorts to stay the game

We're not complaining about that though. At least, I'm not. I agree that nobody will ever be happy. But when this game has actual problems that haven't been fixed for 3 years? I get it. Takes a while to fix stuff. But please ADDRESS the issues that the widespread community dislike. Whenever the admins "address" a major concern its never actually addressed. They just explain why they did it and never say if they'll change it.

It feels like they have no respect for our time. Like with the current 101 debacle and the server roll-back that happened a while ago.

But what is this so-called "Problem" you speak of? Is it really a problem? Or is it just something you don't like about the game? Or perhaps something you think should change?
I love Wynn. I'm not complaining, actually, I do the opposite of complaining. I wouldn't change a thing about the server, but when it does change due to an update, I fall in love even more.
Negativity is something that can make anything less enjoyable, but I know its not always avoidable. Some things just don't go our way. We keep our hopes up, hope something may happen, then it doesn't and we get sad.
A simple way to avoid this is by not having any expectations. Just live life in the moment, devoid of expectation, and hopefully, life will go for the better. This is what I do, and I'd like to say it's working out for me.
I hope everybody upset with anything in their life can learn to let it go and love what you have, as it is much better than a life without it. Especially Wynncraft.

Wynn has had some serious game design issues for quite some time. Class imbalance is one (but not as bad as many make it out to be), elemental imbalance (earth & fire are meh to their counterparts, while water is just too good), lack of explanation for many systems, still questionable quest design, and questionable dungeon design. Several quests still boil down to fetch quests or they just take too long. Its a slog waiting for the next line of dialogue or waiting for a bugged cutscene to finish. Dungeons are boring. Slay! Wow! Cool! Its way too tedious. If there were waves like in Sandswept or just survive like in Underworld Crypt it would be a lot better. There also needs to be more endgame content other than "get loot and make a build". Raids, direct player buffs, special events, more player spells! I know that's all content that can take a while but I'd love to see it.
Things I like are the discoveries. Those are awesome. It gives me some time to just play at my own pace and figure things out myself. There's no tedium, there's no waiting, its just something I can find in the world.
I still love the world. While the lore is... I don't want to get into the lore (not like I care about it much). Builds still look great. New Detlas is awesome. Its massive and filled with detail.
A lot of the quests are still great. While Frostbite was a slog at times with all the cutscenes and dialogue, all the puzzles were cool and engaging. I just want to see more stuff like ???; it made the community really come together for once.

Yea, I think attacking players isn't the best way to address feedback. Yes, it is. It's a lot of things I don't like about the state of the game; how perceptive of you. 4/4 on painfully obvious questions!
Now that's a loaded statement right there. Wynncraft peaked when the IM was finally able to rebalance the item system a few patches before the update IMO. That's when I felt the most comfortable playing. Now I feel like I've got homework to go click some nodes and spend more LE before I can experience the game again and access the "new end game content".
Yes, if I don't have any expectations then everything is 100% better than I expected. That doesn't mean it is good. Just because I don't have expectations doesn't mean new content is going to 100% improve the game in a meaningful way, or a way that I might have preferred. This is the most naive thing I've read so far.
    ________________________________

I never said you didn't have to think about it. I just said you shouldn't have expectations for it. Perhaps a more fair statement is to avoid unreasonable expectations. I may not have expectations, but that doesn't mean I'm not still super excited for things. I woke up every day in anticipation that 1.18 had dropped, but I didn't expect anything from it other than loving it, which was a guarantee for me; it's Wynncraft.

You read into my statements in a very one-sided manner, and calling people naive just because you don't agree with what they say isn't very thoughtful. You're partially right with what you say; just because I have no expectations doesn't mean it's good. But isn't good a relative term? In no scenario would you have everybody agree on something being good. This is why I say you're partially right; anything can be good with the right mindset, which is what brings me back to the point I made in my last post: Negativity can make anything less enjoyable for absolutely no reason.

Throughout my experience, I have enjoyed things much more when I didn't have expectations for them. I am trying to share my knowledge so hopefully, people reading what I say will listen. I am no sage, I am no professor, but that doesn't mean you should ignore everybody who isn't.

That I can agree with. You have expectations, but yours are very pro wynncraft by default. That makes more sense.
I think we're on the exact opposite ends of the scale here. I agree that just being negative because what myself or others wanted isn't present in the update is wrong. I'm not saying that. I'm saying I expected an improvement on aspects of the game that were already present. IMO only the builds, quests, and longevity of the game we're improved. Mythics are still a problem, communication with the community got worse, and end game content still boils down to making class builds and guild stuff.

TLDR: You do have expectations, but they are in favor of wynncraft. I don't agree because of the direction I see the game going. Wynncraft has problems that I feel like you're overlooking.
