    the <redacted for privacy> cycle - come up with a bunch of fancy new mechanics and tooling that is incomplete on release and causes a bunch of problems which will never actually be addressed, rinse and repeat for the next update cycle

    Well, you can call it technical debt if you want, but I would say that that is a narrower term that has to do more with internals.

    Bonus: renaming the update to 2.0 also invokes the curse where even-numbered updates are historically much worse than odd-numbered updates

    i mean true, but adding new features is a hell of a lot more fun than playing the whack a mole that bug fixing is which is probably why so many products are like that (that + costs)
