The night sky was beginning to yield some clouds as the city of Detlas slept below. Tonight, we take a look at the presently-empty pub of Detlas to see the major event that occurred.

An exhausted traveller crashed through the door, taking a seat at the first table that came within reach. The innkeeper, standing behind the wooden counter, noticed the person and came to the table.

“Is everything alright?”

The traveller nodded, but not after a bout of heavy breathing. “It- it was them. The Mafia. They w-went after me, and...”

“And?”

The traveller went silent in favor of a series of subdued sobs. The innkeeper had a strange feeling that something terribly wrong had happened, or was going to happen.

“If it pleases you, I’ll shut the doors.” After a slog to the entrance and the slam of a heavy wooden lock, the innkeeper moved to the bar. The traveller was still whimpering.

“Would you stop whining? It’s hard to get answers from that,” said the innkeeper before heading back to the traveller with two mugs in hand. “Here, this’ll help.”

The innkeeper slid one of the mugs towards the traveller, who looked at it anxiously.

“What? It’s nothing less than old Nemract Whiskey!”

The traveller began to quiet down. After taking a deep breath, the Nemract Whiskey was half-gone in a flash. There was a sigh.

“I was chased because I had heard them talking about their next target,” said the traveller weakly. “I swear, I didn’t hear the name!”

“Well, there’s no point in crying over spilled milk- or Nemract Whiskey, as I put it. They probably know who you are, and it’ll stay that way. You just have to keep strong until this all stops. It’s going to.”

“Are- are you sure?”

“Yes.”

With a groan, the traveller stood up. “I’m sorry, I don’t have the money to pay for any of this. Or a room. Would I be able to stay the night for free? I don’t want to go outside - I think you can sympathize.”

“Sure thing, as long as you don’t-”

A sound came from the entrance. They looked over to see the lock pop off without either of them going near it. The innkeeper silently pointed to the window in the back before getting off the chair. The traveller nodded, and headed that way.

The door opened to reveal a group of people wearing otherwise normal clothing, except for the masks and gloves they used to completely conceal themselves. The innkeeper picked up a chair and threw it at them, but they simply caught it with help from a heavy weapon and dropped it on the floor.

An indistinguishable figure appeared at the innkeeper’s side right as the traveller was nearly out the window. With a swift pummeling and a well-shot arrow, both were silenced instantly.

They were found the next morning. Someone noticed the innkeeper’s identity behind the counter because its metal edgings reflected a stray beam of light. The traveller had no identity. Whoever he or she was, it was not someone participating in the Mafia hunt.

The Tavernkeeper (Innocent)
You are the tavernkeeper of Detlas, residing in a little inn overshadowed by the bank. A few dozen weary travellers rest at your place every week, and you’ve never had any problems or threats...at least, until now.

You may use one Nemract Whiskey on a player every other phase. Nemract Whiskey heals the recipient, but at the same time it removes their ability to vote consciously for one phase.
You have a small chance to passively “overhear” conversations, giving you small amounts of host-selected information discussed within the conversation.
Every other night, you may privately message the host with a statement a player made, and the host will say whether that statement is true or false. If the person making the statement does not know the answer, however, the statement cannot be verified.
You may silence or regenerate a selected player for one phase, with a 3-phase cooldown. Silence causes a player’s vote to not count, and regeneration gives the player health.

Vote for a player with Vote: Player. Whoever has the most votes (if anyone) at the end of the phase will be lynched.
This phase will end on Friday, August 11th, 2017, at 17:00 EST
