Yeah, maybe but there is no definitive source of information that mobs come back from the portal, or is there? pls tell me. Also it would make the game incredibly boring of no mobs spawned back ever again so this is completely pointless.

 

The reason the nether monsters are coming out the portal AFTER we found it is because we woke them up. Nothing says they don't actually know how to dig.

I've got a feeling there is some pretty vital info about the corruption that just isn't in the game.
It doesn't make sense for the Portal to be buried all this time and inactive, and then just Pop to life when it was dug up. not to mention the fact that the corruption keeps spreading to everything. Burying it will only delay the problem, as it will just corrupt Dirt/stone, and keep going. Not to mention the Ruins IN the nether, some obviously intelligent race was there, and there is no way anyone from Wynn could of built that portal, but yet them somehow managed to activate it when they had NO idea what it even was. And obviously the corruption is not something Wynn has been battling for years on end, (at least to me) It seams like a very recent problem, as the player was rushed on a caravan to Ragni from wherever they came from.

the official story line says that the portal was discovered, and humans started digging for emeralds, this pissed off the corrupted army, and they started attacking, That's the only mention we get about the portal, other then In-game stuff.

From what we know, Humans Dig up the portal, somehow Light it, and Piss off the corrupted by 'Digging for emeralds' I honestly think there is more to this that just has not been revealed

why can we shove it underground and pour lava everywhere as that seems to kill everything or we could dig out a giant pit and be like sky islands.

 

I honestly feel the corrupted placey place needs to be a super endgame area. If the dudes there are level 33, why doesn't troms just send it military there? huh? huh?

 

If we are going to even be discussing the nether portal and the corruption of wynn, can I just point out the small detail that if you enter the nether portal, you get taken to a world where there's no mobs to be seen. So that begs the question, where do the mobs even come from? Obviously not the nether itself or there would be mobs galore. Not the nethery corrupted land around the portal, or the corruption itself, since again, there's no mobs in the nether where if either of those were the case, that would be so.

 

I know, I just Made this theory with the information we have.

We still do not know how corruptionn works, that is why I made this theory.

Also, have you seen how pathetic mob v mob fights are? Even if Troms could send its army and lead it out of the jungle (assuming the soldiers don't die from the monsters, or get stuck in a fucking fence or something like that) the ranged blazes would literally melt the army. Like dragons in GoT. But a lot more of em

Also, if trapping the portal underground doesn't work why not just station a fireproof airship somewhere and put a Mage or two up there continually spamming meteor?

They have archers. also troms soldiers are what, like level 60? and theres trainers from tol which are acuatually more comptent than the regular soldiers and guard golems. Another thing, theres something "the passage"

 

In real life, the theory would work, but ingame it would fuck up the plot and the gameplay.

So just steal a few silverwood saplings from the Light Realm with a couple Wynn special ops forces, bring the trees back to wynn, and beat back the environmental deterioration with the revitalization the magic trees give.

New level 90+ quest idea right there.

 

The Sole Group of Mages you mention are from Mage Island, the largest Magic Capital in Wynn. They have harnessed an unknown kind of magic that I've simply called "Cosmic Magic", a magic that can control gravity and other powerful spells. This is supported by the fact mage island has the floating house, as well as the Sky Islands and the floating manor in the CotL. Also, the corruption causes the dead to rise, with very few monsters actually coming from the nether. All zombies are basically dead people who were buried, who were given a second wind by the corruption, and the CoW was actually the leader miner of a mining expedition in the Dernel Jungle. This event also took place during the first 40 years of corruption, before really people from Fruma were allowed entry, so the players weren't really that big of a thing yet.
Finally, the corruption itself can't be directly tied to the sinking of Selchar due to one thing, the Abysso Galoshes. The AG are not of Corruption Origin, and are the main reason why mages attacked Selchar in the first place. While we don't know the full power of the boots, the Sodetas are one of the few people who knew how to contain the powers of the AG.
Also, the players get to respawn because Death believes that the players are needed to save the world. He also hates his job for the most part, so the less deaths, the better on him.
