World Word Filter For Shouts.

Nothing more annoying than to have irrelevant shouts clogging up your chat box.
The ones that i'm referring to are:

"omgz everyone should spam this person because they are awesome."

1) Doesn't contribute anything to chat
2) Negatively impacts players who are receiving the spam. (Even if they are willing)

The only downside or argument I see to this is:
"But, Skillett, shouts make the server money!"
To which I would reply "The loss in money is outweighed by the absence of annoyance that these shouts bring."

Simply adding "spam" as a banned word in shouts would prevent the above.

Just my thoughts. Let's hear yours.

Umm, I really don't understand why people hate shouts. There is only one person who has ever mildly annoyed me with shouts, and I think we all know who that is. The point of shouts isn't always to sell stuff, its fine to make jokes and other things in them. I really don't understand all the anger around people wasting shouts. I mean, it is their shouts...

 

Give it a rest. Nobody's complaining, and its not like people do it to purely to annoy others. It's a small joke and all you want is to rip part of the fun from Wynncraft. This is a multiplayer game with jokes, laughs, and trades, and lots of us are fine with that.

Tbh none of the people I made the community spam complained.

None. At all. Stupid/annoying jokes are there to lighten the mood, even if they are bothersome. Actually, inappropriate and sexual shouts should be be punished somehow.

That's not how things work. You're talking about YOUR experience. When I made the community spam certain people, I was spammed myself from people asking me to spam them. I wasn't bugged at all, and these don't cause annoyances. Shouts rake in lots of cash for the server, cash that it needs. People like me buy around 40-100 shouts at a time. That's good dough. And no, most shouts people are OK with. And there's something called IGNORING CHAT. It's not like it's killing you in-game, is it? It's not hurting you, making you lose hearts, or making you lose items.

Jesus.

 

I like seeing pointless shouts it makes my day to see people spending there money to do useless things

 

Shouts remind me of the good ole maplestory days.

 

"Guys! Everyone message [Player] and tell him to [...]!"

Well, to be honest, never. These shouts are rare and far-between, and I'm on a lot of the times when more than half the servers have over 50 players. Even then they are rare. I'm not sure how annoyed you are by them, but they're certainly not meaning to be annoying (well, excluding a... certain member) and most times they don't believe that they're offending someone and that they're just making a light joke to the guy they want others to spam. Trust me, it's more annoying when you're the one being spammed with messages.

 

I can't go a day without someone with a shout. But I haven't quite been on, so who knows. But if it bothers, you, like me sometimes, when I am annoyed, just turn off chat or minimize the opacity.
Or propose the /ignore command.
