From what I remember from watching it like five years ago, the characters were just cardboard cutouts, the main character was just...so, SO goddamn humorless and unfun, and the female characters were basically just reduced to supporting roles/damsel in distresses. Also, there was that wierd, wierd rapey guy.

 

Sounds like a fun, family movie!

 

I just watched One Punch Man because it was only 1 season and was the first thing on Netflix. It was ok, definitely something different, but it wasn't my favorite show.

I liked most of the characters, except for that Ninja guy and psychic girl. I would say Sataima is my favorite character because he's just so chill about everything and doesn't take things seriously. The animation was... well anime and over the top. Seriously, I don't get how a karate chop destroys an entire city block. The intro got a bit annoying after a few episodes. Besides that my biggest nitpicks with the show are the premise and the pacing. I know that Sataima is supposed to be an average Joe that becomes a god for no reason, you're supposed to focus on the other characters, and that each boss fight is supposed to be anti-climatic for comedy. However, while there is other conflict (like with Sataima being accused of a cheater), it doesn't matter because Sataima deep down doesn't give a shit about being famous at the end of the season. But the bigger conflicts then become boring because you know that Sataima is just going to swoop in at the end of the day. And while I do like the other characters, they don't seem to die even after having their limbs and insides torn out or thrown halfway across the city.

Despite what I said, I can forgive the show for that, if it just wasn't the pacing. It was mostly in a few episodes (like a T-Rex monster literally gets killed in 2 sec by a random-ass meteor at the start of an episode, and then they just move on like it's nothing). Not only does it make it more confusing, but it gets a little repetitive too.

Overall, it's not a bad show, but it wasn't the greatest one I saw. I'd give it a 7/10.

I did. It was just a bit more annoying than most. Sataima is also the best btw because he’s the only rational person.

Btw, some scenes in AoT aren’t animated at all, which makes it very inconsistent. The scene where Misaka and Eren talk the night b4 Eren’s final try is especially confusing because of this. Misaka talks to Eren, but then out of no where it cuts to that weird red-haired girl sitting next to her and the room is empty. Then red girl asks for bread, it flips to the outside, and then Misaka just eats it. And all of this is conveyed through a few still images...

Sorry, but I can't really fill in the plot holes in the anime for you. I watched the 1st season a while ago and haven't seen the second. I don't read manga either.

 

I’m starting to like One Punch Man better than AoT. There is so much unnecessary padding that barely anything happens in an episode. They literally show what happens in the previous episode, and the few clips they show convey as much info. as the last few episodes... Not to mention they constantly have flash backs and clips from the previous episodes, bringing down the total runtime to 15-18 minutes. Although the premise is better and there is actually tension compared to OPM, at least OPM was concise.
