Guess I may as well revive myself for this.
Listed from worst to best.

For reference, I consider the early game to be levels 1-36 (Hashr being the bridge between mid and early game), mid game to be roughly levels 36-68 (the bridge between mid and late game being CoW), late game being levels 68-90+ (there's no real bridge boss here), and anything after that being endgame (LI, most of the Hive, etc.).

Also, this is based on soloing, because I like singleplayer games with co-op on the side more than vice versa or all out on either of them (and let's face it, Wynn was and I'd assume still is that unless they somehow rolled out an entire combat revamp while I've been gone).

Mage:

But in all seriousness, the question at hand is "but Shots, at least you can agree that it's better than Warrior, right?", and the answer is no. From what I've seen, most people only view the class from the standpoint of how well it does in the endgame, and sometimes the late game depending on the scenario. I can't blame them, because it's easy to just power level to the endgame, intentionally or not. However, I view the classes from the standpoint of how well they perform across the entire game, because I used to replay the game constantly when I still did play. So, from that viewpoint, Mage is the worst class, no questions asked.

It has horrendous damage and healing in the early game, so much so to the point where even when you get meteor it's not going to do much compared to if you went full blown melee/poison, it's mediocre at best in the mid game because it still doesn't have enough mana sustain to consistently heal itself and do damage with its spells, and it underperforms in the late game because it still has awful damage (seriously, prior to the remake of Bob the only class I consistently struggled with him on is Mage because I could just BARELY out damage his hpr).

The only time Mage does well is in the endgame because you have so many more options to actually increase your sustain and damage output (and even then, it gets outperformed by every other class besides Warrior), which is ironic to me considering that most people refer to Mage as a "noob friendly" class. In fact, I would argue that it's harder than every other class in combat the majority of the time until you reach endgame (assuming you know how to use Assassin/Shaman effectively, as there is a much higher skill ceiling with both of those classes than the other 3).

Warrior:

Honestly, I believe Warrior is far more of a "noob friendly" class than Mage. Why? It's base defense. Throughout nearly all of the early-late game, elemental damage is basically nonexistent. Sure, some enemies will do a ton of it, but they're generally the outliers rather than the norm. As a result, Warrior can just face tank through pretty much everything in the game. Since defense also boosts your resistance to elements now, it really does mean jack to a Warrior. You don't even really need to invest skill points into defense because of how stupid strong it's base defense is (although it obviously does help, hell using a fire weapon and increasing your defense stat as a Warrior is truly playing the game on """easy""" mode).

The only hard counters Warrior has in the early-late game are enemies that just do so much damage to the point where face tanking of any sort is not possible, a.k.a pretty much only Rymek Luke and Hashr's second phase (Psychomancer as well if you fight him at his actual level, and I guess technically Redbeard but he's just a shitty gimmick boss that you and I try to forget before remembering it exists and wanting to die oh wait that's just me and a few others).

The problem is that in the endgame everything suddenly starts dealing elemental damage out the wazoo, and enemies dealing more neutral damage become more of the exception (like Cybel). Now, Warrior has basically no upside. It's spells don't combine that well together, and throughout most of the game they seem more like just support for your melees rather than actual spells themselves, and it has the worst DPS potential of any class besides Mage in a spell based build (although Mage will outperform it 90% of the time, because Warrior would need quite a specific setup to be able to outperform it). Sure, spell builds can work, but there nowhere near as good as Diaminar.mp4. It's hilariously unbalanced for end game in the sense that it sucks ass compared to every other class without melee and still is relatively lack luster with melee.

Assassin:

Probably the most well balanced of all five classes, it's fitting that Assassin lands in the middle of the pack. Of course, it's not really the middle of the pack because the obvious #1 spot is busted as fuck and the two below it are both underpowered in their own right, but you get the idea.

Assassin performs well at any point in the game. It has exceptional damage, continuous or in bursts, pretty good sustain thanks to having 100% base and vanish to easily run away from mobs, and can effectively deal with anything the game throws at it with it's versatile spell synergy that allows you to either play super aggressive with spins and smokes or passively/hit and run with vanish into multi-hit, just as examples. It's blind is good, yes, but it's not that busted in the early-late game since chances are you're not going to have the intel nor mana sustain to perma blind. Even in the endgame, blind isn't going to guarantee your victory since mobs still will use spells even when blinded.

The biggest hard counter Assassin has is hordes of ranged mobs that are spaced out. Ranged mobs on their own or clustered together are a problem but can effectively be dealt with thanks to vanish, but large groups of them spaced out will gang bang you to ever after because they're so straining on your mana to take them out, unless of course you're using a defense orientated build where you can face tank them. A good example is if you try to not corner camp in Bovine Barn, because the 4 Scarecrows will all delete you off the face of the earth if you try to take them all out. If they don't kill you, then the Durum Protector will swoop into one shot you. Pick your poison.

Shaman:

Shaman is a class a lot of people seem to either A. think is busted beyond their wildest imaginations or B. think is dogshit. Shaman is strong, yes, otherwise it wouldn't be in the second spot, but it is nowhere near SPOILER ALERT Archer's power (who would've guessed). Shaman in the early through most of the late game is actually fairly well balanced. It's got a very high risk, high reward prior to getting aura, and while aura is stupid strong in grinding, it is not against most bosses. Even when you get the aura trap, it's not going to break bosses due to a lack of mana sustain to just spam aura to infinity and beyond AND you still have to properly manage your totem. You actually have to time your auras because otherwise the boss has a pretty high chance of just getting out of the trap and coming to kick your ass to the nearest town or Lusuco if the game fancies being a dick.

However, in the endgame, aura does break bosses because you can spam it forever with no real danger of miss timing it. There's the exceptions (generally fast moving mobs) like Mecho CoW, but that's about it. Shaman loses it's high risk nature, but maintains a somewhat medium risk for quite a high reward.

The main issue with Shaman comes from its movement spell, haul. Haul in combat is actually pretty good thanks to its buffs, but the problem is when a boss has pull. Pull is a bs spell that will be discussed shortly, but haul does next to nothing when you get pulled since the boss is most likely going to be in your totem, meaning it pulled you directly into it and now you're getting hit stunned. Other than that, the endgame has no real counter to Shaman, and Shaman does far better in hordes compared to Assassin thanks to aura's range and the totem's healing, which is why I place it slightly above Assassin. Tbh, these are the only two classes that should probably stay where they are right now.

Archer:

Do I even need to explain? Its a ranged "glass" cannon in a game that can't actively punish it's galaxy sized range without it being bullshit (i.e push/pull). I put "glass" in quotations because thanks to the changes to defense, you can be tanky and still hit harder than pretty much every other class in the game through a risk v. reward standpoint, and even without that you have range that makes every other enemy in the game wish they had. Arrow storm completely melts bosses with basically no risk since they're dead before they even get to do anything (especially with Hawkeye, because then you can do it at range), escape gives you a speed boost and can blind your opponent, not to mention it just travels a stupid distance already, arrow bomb makes hordes nonexistent as long as they don't have a metric ton of health, and for anything that somehow isn't dead in 2 seconds when you go near it, you have arrow shield, which can also be used to juggle your opponents so they can't do anything.

Like I said though, you can't really do anything to stop Archer from being busted as it is right now. The only way enemies can even remotely punish Archer's range right now is through push and pull. The problem is that it makes it bs for every other class in the game because there is no way to avoid push/pull once they go off, even if you're outside the aggro range.

The only time Archer is ever not the best class is when you do Infested Pit at level, because then you're basically forced to camp up at the door unless you want to get melted by a horde without bomb arrow. Decrepit Sewers is still relatively easy as long as you can kite effectively. There is truly no other time at ANY point in the game where Archer isn't going to demolish everything in it's path with an incredibly low risk thanks to its range and damage, nor is any other class going to be a better choice if your soul goal is to win.

But above all else,

Whatever in Gods Name You Want to Use Is the Best:

There's no problem with pointing out the strengths and weaknesses of a class, as it is essential for game balance for obvious reasons, but at the end of the day just use whatever you have the most fun using. Nobody really gives a damn. Sure, me and others are going to meme you into the void depending on the class you use, but nearly all of the time we don't actually care. If you want to go batshit teleporter crazy with Mage or practically oneshot a boss with Archer, then just go ahead and do it. You'll probably do better with it anyways because you're enjoying yourself more. Hell, I enjoyed using Assassin/Shaman/Warrior more than I did Archer, despite believing it to be the best class from a technical standpoint, and even though I meme about Mage I still did enjoy it to a lesser extent.

I might try archer out again to be honest if people are saying it's good, grinding wise it must be easy to just hide and shoot.

EDIT: I 100% agree with you about just go with what you enjoy the most, at the end of the day fun is the real reason to play Wynncraft

In terms of combat abilites, it's pretty convincingly archer/assassin first, shaman/mage second and warrior third (but not by as big of a margin as people seem to think). However, these include and exclude some really important factors, like how they perform across the levels, versus bosses, versus large groups of mobs (haha, wars) and versus other players (toxoplasmosis excluded). But the real, most important list is rated on how much FUN the different classes are to play. My opinion:

1. spell/hybrid assassin
2. melee/hybrid mage
3. shaman whenst not pure spell
4. warrior if can uppercancel
5. spell mage
6. archer heavy melee
7. warrior if not can uppercancel
8. spell archer
9. melee, just melee
10. heavy melee if specifically assassin
11. shaman when is jojo reference
12. archer when haves nighthawk

other niche options like lunar spine, etw builds and tank builds aren't here because it's heavily dependent on level of gamer and can be all the way at the top or bottom

I agree with not judging a class based only off of one playstyle so i'm gonna try doing my own

Favorites:

6. hybrid/spell assassin
7. hm assassin
8. hm mage
9. spellspam mage

Objectively imo:

1. nighthawk archer
2. hm assassin
3. spellspam mage
4. hybrid assassin
5. spellspam shaman
6. hybrid shaman
7. archer without nighthawk
8. mage tank
9. melee mage

Honestly, I’d say assassin is the best class IF you know how to use it, although I am admittedly COMPLETELY biased because, you know, assassin main. Vanish is, quite frankly, the most powerful spell in the game, bar none. It’s basically an all in one offensive, defensive, mobility, and setup tool that rewards you for using it to reset spell costs, and all the other spells have a good amount of utility and pack quite a bit of damage when comboed well.

That said, I really don’t think it needs to be nerfed. It’s the class with the highest skill ceiling and the lowest (actually probably second lowest) skill floor; it makes sense for it to be the most effective if you’re able to learn it since it takes the most effort to learn it; if you don’t it’s pretty average to just outright bad. Other classes like mage, shaman and archer are all still competitive with assassin and are quicker to pick up and learn, with archer probably tying or surpassing assassin on every skill tier except the very top.

Warrior is the worst class. Not even close. Sluggish spells with little synergy, zero counter to range, only one actual somewhat defensive spell that gets outclassed by everyone else’s defensive spells. It’s got a lower skill floor than assassin and a lower skill ceiling than mage, which is just really, really bad. I’ve taken every class through EO solo except warrior for a very good reason. That reason being it’s just really clunky and hard to use for little actual reward in either the damage or defense department. It also has no counter for ranged mobs because charge is too slow and often just throws you into projectiles, and EVERY SPELL YOU HAVE knocks said ranged enemy away from you, meaning if you don’t kill them you are shit outta luck because you’ve just pushed them farther away from you and now you need to chase them down again. Uppercut needs to knock enemies toward you or something because man it’s just rough to be a warrior main.
