I'm honestly not surprised at this point; so much old content is so badly optimized, something like this was bound to happen and will probably not get fixed for a weeks.

    Alright. I did some digging.
I can't disclose exactly how the system works, however, from looking at it from the inside, there is actually a logic to it, and to what happens. Lower level guilds leveled up several times because of their XP. Higher level guilds, not so much. The guild system got reworked, and I can't explain all of it. There was basically nothing that was done differently with XP, this update, from the last update. Some guilds are going to be happy with it, some guilds won't be. The changes were made purely mathematically, and they aren't meant to hurt or to help any specific guild(s). When you start wars, you'll see the difference.

I know that for some guilds it feels as if you've been harmed, directly. Please understand, that this happens every time that there is a guild update, right? It's purely mathematical. I think that if you look at what happened to each guild, you'll get an idea of what the mathematics is. Knowing this community, if you look at all of the level changes, you'll see that there is an underlying, fair, mathematical rule that is being used.

And last, but not least, every possible way of making the updates to guild XP was looked at. We know that no matter what we do, nothing is going to make everyone happy, it just can't happen. It really can't. And for that, I'm personally sorry, as is the rest of the Wynn team.

Salted said himself the system isn't the fairest, but that its basically the best they could do.

    A Guild has 500/1000 XP
The XP requirement goes up by 50 each level
The cap now changes to 100
The guild now has 500/100 XP
Guild Level Up! It now has 400/150 XP
Guild Level Up! It now has 250/200 XP
Guild Level Up! It now has 50/250 XP

Essentially, we kept the xp from the current level we are on. That in itself is very questionable, we basically keep a very tiny fraction of our efforts. In my opinion, this doesn't benefit anyone in the current system. Some guilds jumped more than others because they had more xp/percentage points in their current level, but past work was invalidated nonetheless. Only guilds that really benefit are the ones that don't even exist yet.

There could have been other ways to go about this. I get it is mathematical, but the concern is the mathematical rule being used.

Level aside, the MAIN concern is guild slots. Level was touched, but guild slots were absolutely eradicated. We thought that we would all jump in level so that it would balance out, and so guild slots had to be nerfed so it would balance, but that clearly isn't the case.

What does it matter if a mathematical rule is affecting all guilds, it doen't make it better to know that all guilds are losing out on hours of time spent varying from just a couple hour to actual big guilds using thousands of hours work from over years.

We were at level 77, we got bumped to level 78.

6 of my guild members decided to go grind dxp and we got to level 79 in an hour

This is so absurdly broken. The work of guilds is being extremely invalidated. It is ridiculous that a guild as high a level as mine can just level in an hour with little effort. What used to take forever now takes little time.

I personally do not agree with the decision.

Before this whole thing, we were #48 guild in terms of gxp. When this exchange happened, we just levelled up before, so we were on 0 percent. Due to the conversion, we got literally nothing. That would basically not be a problem, but I think that it is completely unfair that we were overtaken by those who were even 7 levels behind us, and jumped back to #70+ places. I have only one question. It wouldn’t have been easier and fairer to just keep the levels and percentages? Just calculate the level and round the value to the appropriate percentage.

I don’t know what the problem is with the fact that higher levels are much harder to achieve than lower ones

Overall, I think it would be appropriate to at least maintain a ranking among the guilds compared to the original.

Unpopular opinion, but I am actually pretty excited for 1.20. I think guild rework was well needed, I absolutely love the changes they made to warring. And the guild levels update was a needed preparation for 1.20, where everything will work differently. Huge thumbs up to Wynn for that.

As Moe_Ronickah pointed out, there is no update, what will everyone like. You can't listen to the players too much, because there are many different opinions, someone will be always disappointed.

I suggest you, Ice, and everyone who is mad at the update, to use this energy to think about new strategies, plan, adjust to the new system, and thus prepare and improve your guilds to remain strong in the update as well.

After all, guilds are about being prepared to every possible situation.

This isn't at all related to the guild war function.

They changed level caps and didn't properly scale the already earned xp, and nerfed slots big time.

The #1 spot is about to be heavily contested because, despite years of efforts, it didn't transfer over. They nerfed guild xp requirements, but they did not adjust the levels of existing guilds. They've essentially made it ridiculously easy to level now and kept everyone exactly where they are at.

My guild leveled entirely to 79 in just an hour of a few people casually grinding. Soon enough, everyone will be past the level 80 range and pass up

I absolutely agree. I dont know who is responsible for this but keeping the xp amount and not the percentage in a new system where the level up requirement is lower is just unacceptable. Next time, please keep us on 99.9% so we level up 10 times with the amount of xp we have in the new system.
