Maybe it's cuz I've played smash and seen balanced characters. (Note: I played pretty early in beta so idk if re balancing has been alright)
I like some mechanics and how areal game is much more face paced. However, as you said controls and also balancing can be a pain.

TL;DR I'd take smash bros any day over this
