It seems a little boring, both design-wise and mechanic-wise, but hey, maybe i'll change my mind if the other mobs suck

To me, the Glare just sounds like an overcomplicated feature for a simple mechanic with a simple solution. Some ultra-popular, anonymous, speedrun faking youtuber better not ask his loyal fans on twitter to vote for this.

The next mob has been revealed!

We don't know what the third mob will be yet, but I'm willing to bet the Allay is the most useful of the three. You'd need less hoppers for a farm if you've got an Allay, you could use it to sort items, as a kind of Roomba, to steal from other players... the possibilities are endless!

I'm going to guess that it doesn't take resources that have already generated, but kind of makes it from thin air. I know that sounds OP, but if the Allay takes from chests, it can be used as a griefing tool (as you suggested) and I doubt Mojang would add something that can so clearly and easily be used to grief.

My guess is that although it can create resources from thin air, it takes a while, it's hard/expensive to tame, you need a few note blocks and it can't duplicate things like dragon eggs, nether stars and probably won't directly copy enchanted items. The only way I could see it taking from chests is that it only takes from loaded chunks and only blocks that naturally spawned in the chest are ones you (and only you) put in. Unless the Allay can be used for griefing, it will probably be the one I want to win.

The way I understood it is that the Allay can only pick up dropped items, which would be most useful for farms. I doubt it can duplicate items, because even if it takes, say, an hour to dupe one item, players will just gather a ton of Allays to negate the cooldown.

    2021 theme: random shit

my main question is how the fuck would you even find these mobs, i guess the glare would be in lush caves but what the fuck even is the allay meant to be, it looks like a retextured Vex.

I think mojang also really fucked up the description for the Allay because it just sounds like it'll dupe items for you (ez i placed a note block and threw a netherite ingot at a vex and now i have a netherite beacon) when in reality it probably just picks up nearby dropped items and places them near noteblocks

Tbh they should have made it jukeboxes instead of noteblocks, jukeboxes only serve novelty purposes right now and it makes more sense for the allay to like jukeboxes.

Anyway, can't wait for them to announce the schworblernoink tomorrow, the red mob that takes a shit on the nearest chiseled red sandstone block every time it hears a chicken sound effect

Thanks for the clarification, that makes a lot more sense than stealing items from chests or just a built-in dupe.
Yeah Mojang probably couldn't have picked a worse way to show this, considering the description is vague and cookies are never on the ground without a player having dropped them.
It's pretty clear at this point the theme is pet mobs.

The Allay is still better than the Glare but now I'm waiting for that third mob.

Just wanted to add: as someone in the comment section of the Allay reveal video pointed out, the Endervision hinted at the glare, and the Raid-eo hinted at the Allay, which means the third mob will probably be related to the beacon-thingy somehow.

The glare seems like a pointless mob as of now; you can easily see the light level with F3 or just literally by looking. And in 1.18 mobs will need more darkness to spawn in anyway so you won’t need to differentiate between a light level 7 or 8 anymore.

It can probably activate pressure plates and tripwires though so you can make light-based redstone contraptions

Honestly I'm currently hoping for the Allay, I want to make auto farms with it

But the Glare flies though, so it won’t activate anything on the ground. Maybe trip wires?

I could've sworn I saw it like jumping away from darkness in the trailer but i rewatched it and it just has a grumpy expression in the dark

Not to mention that Agnes said "it gets grumpy if it's dark enough for mobs to spawn" which is pointless because as of 1.18 mobs can only spawn at light level 0

    The glare is basically useless.

My prediction is that it'll be a prism that sits on top of beacons and:
Makes the beam travel in different directions?
    Makes the beam flash rainbows?

I'd also like to say for anyone who is worried about Dream rigging it again that he probably won't. He certainly learned his lesson last time and all his tweets relating to the mob vote are just him memeing about it/ baiting people into thinking that he will

He literally publicly apologised for it last year, why the fuck would he rig it again lmao?

I also don't get why people are still pissed off about glow squids winning last year, in my opinion they were the best possible option because they made signs actually READABLE

This tweet from Minecraft developer Ulraf implies that the final mob is a robot, as the tweet also teases the glare and allay, so my prediction is wrong. (the emojis used represent each mob, eyes= glare, angel= Allay, robot = mob 3)

Is it possible that the cloud hints at a fourth mob, or have they confirmed it's only 3? The trailer starts with them listing colour (vision, the Glare), sound (note blocks, the Allay) and then 3d (beacon? light-based somehow?) and then... cinema scope...? Idk if that means anything or if we're supposed to interpret 3d and cinema scope as one hint. The trailer also mentions things being 4x more unpredictable, which could mean that there'll be 4 mobs, which would be quite unpredicted.
Just some thoughts though, as the trailer also clearly only shows 3 voting options, and there's also no major fourth hint after the B.E.A.C.O.N. That could also just play into the whole unpredictable thing.

The copper golem is basically just a tiny iron golem with a lightning rod on its head. It's cool because it presses copper buttons (i presume a new feature) randomly which can be used for randomizers. The only problem is that it rusts into a statue eventually so you have to keep building new ones. I don't think it can be waxed.

I think the Allay is still more useful, because the Allay never freezes into a statue and can be used for cool auto farm collection points. I'm still an allay supporter overall, though this would be my second choice.

The mobs this year in a nutshell:

    Glare: Useless bush with eyes

Allay: Cool for auto sorters and very cute

Copper golem: Robot Grian that dies of oxygen exposure

Also as usual with mob votes Twitter is being very toxic in favor of either the Allay or Copper golem. The Glare is recieving the same treatment as the moobloom (aka the underdog)

I think I'll vote for the Allay. They could've done a much better job of showcasing the mobs, though.

The Copper Golem seems pretty high maintenance to me, although at least it does something useful.
Overall I'm not thrilled with the choices as I feel like they are only useful for advanced redstoners, which I'm guessing most players of survival Minecraft aren't. If I had to rank them, I would say:
    3. Glare: Lacks any real purpose aside from minor redstone stuff.
    2. Copper Golem: It seems cool enough, but the fact that it turns into a statue makes it sound really annoying to use.
    1. Allay: Seems unique and serves a clear purpose while also making noteblocks not useless.

Exactly my thoughts. I’m mostly split with the Allay and the Copper Golem. Allay seems better but I also just want another use for copper since Mojang refuses to add copper armor and tools.

I completely agree with your rankings, I don't do much redstone but I'm already imagining the auto farms i could make with Allays if they were to win

The copper golem seems like an excellent way to have more uses for copper (buttons and a golem that needs replacing from time to time) and I've seen some cool suggestions for these if they win such as
    • Copper buttons start with a strong signal length and the signal length of the button goes down for every stage, offering more customizable buttons if you were able to wax them
    • The lightning rod on the copper golems' head attracts lightning when it is in statue form and de-rusts it if it is struck
    • It can use electrical attacks on enemies during thunderstorms
If those were actual features it had then I'd be super torn between it and the Allay, but I currently prefer the Allay by quite a bit. I'd only be annoyed if the Glare somehow won the vote.
