    Good day, folks! Today’s the fifth weekly discussion focusing on items, ingredients and gameplay. As mentioned in our previous discussion threads, this won’t be a one-sided conversation, but an open forum between us and you. As mentioned on our thread here, we’ll be doing this weekly but if there is enough interest and conversation ongoing as the week draws to a close, we’ll roll it over to the next week. If not, this thread will be locked and we’ll move onto a new discussion.

    This Week’s Topic: Mythic Boots

    Alongside the mythic reliks, mythic boots got a slew of changes as well as 5 more being created. Throughout the course of 1.19’s release, we’ve kept up with the conversation surrounding the new mythics and have made some changes we’d like to release today. As with the last discussion thread, we want to hear your guys’ thoughts surrounding them, both conceptually and balance-wise. You can find the changes coming to 9 out of 10 of the boots in the spoilers below.

    Revenant

    Melee Damage %: -60 -> -70 (-49 to -91)
    Health Bonus: -2000 -> -2500 (-1750 to -3250)
    Warchief

    Fire Defense: -90 -> -100
    Water Defense: -90 -> -100
    Air Defense: -90 -> -100

    never got why there are so many mythic boots and not any mythic helmets, chestplates (besides discoverer), or leggings
    if it's for a balance reason, there could just be a system like the hive items where you can't wear more than one at a time or something

    as for these items though, they're pretty neat I guess

    Yeah, it's for balance reasons. People running around in full mythic builds will have the power of unkillable gods, pretty much. The Hive item system works, but it isn't pretty. It doesn't communicate clearly to the player that it's happening. Introducing more mythic armour (boots inc.) is currently not being considered, but that's not set in stone for eternity. We'll see where it goes.

    Don’t hurt me pls

    But I like them since they’re very sp specific, which makes them not usable for more of the “rainbow” type of builds
    I’m not against rainbow builds, I swear

    why the hell did revenant get nerfed when it wasn't even used much?
    slayer is actually ok now i guess
    resurgence is just boreal 2.0, how good how good
    warchief isn't as useless anymore, so maybe not as much disappointment when finding it?

    i still hate how there are only mythic boots (discounting discoverer, because it only has one use: exp bonus for grinding)
    i mean, only like 4 of them or so are used commonly, and the rest are really uncommon to find in builds and are niche. boreal and resurgence are the same item, which is fucking stupid.

    if you're going to add half a trillion mythic boots, at least put them on the same tier, and not make some good in all but a few situations and the rest good in only a specific few situations.

    Moontower is still in a great place. I do think Boreal enabling hpr stack needs to be addressed sometime, but that's more of an issue with hpr.

    The health bonus was a bit much for its given element combo. The melee damages are meant to be sort of a tradeoff which it wasn't doing quite exactly.

    Quite different uses. Boreal is more defensive while resurgence allows more offensive use. Boreal benefits more when you build fully into health regen because it is (and always will be) the highest % regen item in the game excluding AoR for... obvious reasons. Resurgence functions more of a mana battery allowing you to build damage in other places because you have enough mana sustain for your build, usually.

    I don't believe you've been keeping up because warchief is... One of the best boots in the game? Warchief has insane uses for ETA tierstack and very rarely ETW. It practically provided a free tier if you needed it through its dexterity points, which is the main point of its change.


    Can you explain the problem, exactly?

    Boreal has base 2, max 3 whereas resurgence has base 7, max 9. That's a bit more than one mana regen.

    HPR is outclassed by lifesteal and greed unless you completely commit to building with it as a focus, and builds that try to use it as a secondary focus are hurt by it. Boreal + hpr + hpr + more hpr + maybe guardian is great, but...

    I guess it's just the current state of hpr that's the "problem"

    In ETA, warchief is so much better
    In EWA, ex nihilo is a cheaper and has comparable strength
    In EFA it is actually ok but raw melee stacking still sucks
