"I take it you've never been to the mainland. It's a big world." She laughs.
"I haven't been here that long... You won't find much of my kind on this world. Mostly humans, but that's something for you to explore on your own. For now, you look a little... lightly armed. I'd escort you, but that'd bring even more trouble your way. Do you have any kind of weapons, or are you mostly teeth and claws?"

 

"...There's nothing I can do. One of the times, I...I killed her, far at the end. Maybe it was her time, her fate." Artemis says, looking down, "But what about that erasure? That removal from everyone’s minds?"

"True decay" I mutter under my breath.

 

OCC: Sorry... It appears the thread has stopped giving me notifications.

"We should probably go check on the town first. It's probably more urgent. As for how far away they are, the forest is closer, but they're both a long distance away. Exactly how much? I know not."

 

"If we're gonna be a while, could I ask a couple things about those Watchers from earlier?"

"That's her curse. Whenever she dies, she's forgotten. Friends, enemies, parents, gods... No trace will remain."
Rineth looks extremely bitter.

 

"Go ahead..."

 

"There's no way of remembering her? None at all?"

Artemis looks over to me, "What about those white crystals you use? Can't they store a memory? If we were to use one of those, couldn't we remember her?"

"I believe powerful magic is used here, and if it can wipe a memory from minds, it could just as easily wipe a memory from a crystal..." I say sadly.

"There's no avoiding it, then; Ihra is destined to be forgotten. Even if her death was early, I couldn't reverse it, because I wouldn't remember her." Artemis says with a grim tone.

"Well, I guess we could both use a better introduction to her, couldn't we?" I say, trying to lighten the mood.

 

"You said something about empathy feedback... Were those your creations, or are you tied to them in some way?"

"It's the staff's sacrifice. Also, didn't you a) waste your introduction on posessing her mother, and b) waste this one on pranks and naps?"

 

We both look rather ashamed.

I turn to Artemis, "I know this might sound crazy, but...that wooden Artemis, I felt it knew something..."

"I'm not bringing that thing back. It might have been sentient, but I don't think it deserves a second chance." Artemis says with a serious tone.

I turn to Rineth, "Did the wooden Artemis say anything to you?" I ask.

 

"Both. I made them and then I kind of... Put part of my soul in them. You can't create emotions in a forge."

 

"Nothing it didn't repeat in front of you. Besides, it's pretty gone. Like, sent to the Void gone."

"I... Damn. I'm so sorry... I didn't... no. No excuses. That was purely my fault..."
My pace slows.
"Forgive me for asking, but why were they moving to attack the town? I can't just go and keep killing bits of your soul to defend people I don't know!"

 

"I know I'm against the art of necromancy but...if I feel the need to, I can bring things back; almost like reversing the clock a little." Artemis says shamefully.

"Couldn't you just infuse it's magic into a non-creepy wooden Artemis?" I ask, "It'd use up less magic than reforming the whole damn thing." I ask Artemis.

"Probably, but I'm still unsure whether I want to. As intelligent as it was, there was something unnerving about that thing." Artemis says, shivering a little.

"Embrace your Mors Guardian within." I say creepily, cracking a wry smile.

 

"Well, I put the wrong side of my soul into them, for one thing. The side that wants everything to just go back to the way it was. No people. No towns. Just rock and ash. The humans did try to kill them first, for training purposes. That drove them over the edge a bit."

 

"Hold up a moment... If your friends are guardians or have special titles... what're you?"

"That's reasonable. Still, I don't know if I'll be able to save my hide from another if I see one."
I go silent for a bit.
"Well, I'm noticing changes in what's here underground. We getting close to something? I'd pop up, but I have no idea what's on the surface."

 

"I brought some things I could use for weaponry, but as in any official weapons, we kinda don't have that. We're not really that... y'know... fight-y." Lazarus presses a control panel on his 'backpack', which uses energy to compress items but make them feel less heavy, but weight is still a thing. Imagine it like a video-game's inventory. He has it specially designed to fit around his sail and absorb solar energy along with his sail. "Obviously, we've never put any large-scale multicellular life in these things, as we've specially designed these to refuse life. However, theoretically it would be fine. Theoretically. Microbes seem to do fine, but I'm not sure about, y'now, large complex beings."

(Keep in mind most of these things are really bad for combat. Like, really bad... for now. For example, the most powerful weapon (which is the only powerful weapon), the industrial water jet, requires water. Problem is, water is ridiculously heavy. And it still has storage inside of it. If it didn't have anything inside, it would be pure white instead of blue. All it has is a bunch of sciency equipment for measuring things, mostly orientated to study multiple universes and warp bubbles)

 

"Artemis is a Forest Guardian, a Guardian of Life. She makes sure that things stay alive and die when they need to. She has control over nature, animals, basically anything that's alive." I explain, glancing to Artemis.

"They used to call my kind Vitae Guardians, but...the Guardians of Death, they're...also us. We make sure that things die when they need to, to keep the circle of life going. While Vitae Guardians hold the least power upon first glance, we're really the most powerful Guardians of them all." Artemis explains, "I have strong healing magic at my disposal, the ability to control plants, animals, and even people; and the ability to bring people back from death. Clairvoyance and sensing life are also some of my abilities."

"The reason I'm against necromancy is because it's bringing back the dead when they do not need to be re-risen. They're used for selfish purposes, to fight or serve. I only bring back the dead if I feel it is necessary."

"It'd take far too long to explain absolutely everything, but simply put, 'I control nature and life.'" She says proudly.

OOC: Explaining the specifics of any Guardian is a lengthy process.

 

OCC: I hope this is what you meant...

"We're near the plains around the forest. The town is just ahead."

 

"Hmm..."
Vei paces around a bit.
"Okay, how about a little magitech? Let me look at your feet and brain real quick."
A blue aura slowly radiates around her, passing through you.
"Magic also has its own way of... learning new thinga, if you will. I have a few extra braces, but I haven't needed the spares in centuries. I might see if I can wire them to you, and they can be a passable weapon and double as an escape."

"Then I presume you hold something against Ihra, though to a small degree. See, the staff is able to capture parts of the souls and memories of anythin she sees die. If she wills it, she can bring it back as a projection of finely woven energy. I would be a prime example; when a summon is woven, it retains any memories the staff captured, and the staff automatically retains new memories I have. For example, if I were to be killed in the middle of this conversation, I could continue it later if rewoven. Unless Ihra told me, though, I would have no knowledge of events that occur until then."
He bows slightly.
"Though, I understand the degree of difficulty in your task. I do hope our paths don't clash."
Rineth turns to AJ.
"...Though, the question was originally directed at him."

OOC: Yep.
"I'll surface, then. Hopefully my apology isn't met with metal..."

From below, you can see me leap out of the ground.
"So... how exactly do I make it up to them for making that big of a mess? I'd like at least a bit of an idea before I make too big of a fool out of myself..."

 

"Wait, centuries?! CENTURIES?! Hey wait, what are these anyways? What is happening? Wire them?!" As they are wired, a purple wave washes through the blue of his eyes, sail, feathers and patterns. It quickly disappears, as does his consciousness. He wakes up after a few seconds.

 

"You could...
...
Honestly, I'd just apologize to the residing general. You did save the town already, so the most he'll do is give you a task. Not that I'm good with forgiveness, or anything."

 

She's not doing that yet.

"Okay, I've never seen a self-induced panic attack before. You okay?"

"Got it.
Only problem is,
I have no idea who that is or where in the town I'd find him."
I start walking towards the town.
