Void Rift (rp) - Intermission

"Alrighty."

"I'll second that. I'm not sure what it's rambling on about, but I did recognize 'Tranquil' somewhere in there."
I comment, nervously.

 

At home, you realize that there's no tunnel; the clock that was right before the anomaly is now correct yet again.
By that logic, it must've done it to pretty much everyone.

Rineth looks bitter.
"Evil is a loose term." He mumbles.

He checks on Ihra before turning to you.
"I couldn't make heads or tails of anything it said. Again, up to Artemis."

 

"Huh..."
In order to prevent any future mishaps, Lazarus decides to seek out that draconian...
He would have to travel to the mainland.
Bowie on his shoulder, he takes the next ship to the mainland... if he can find one.

When you get to the harbor, only the workers are there.

"You haven't left the island in... Well, I can't remember. Just be back for the interrogation." One of the guards says while escorting you to the ship.

It's small. That doesn't matter much, since you and the crew seem to be the only ones on.
"Well... You're it." The captain bellows over the loudspeaker.
"If you're ready to go, give the word. If not, let us know. Everyone's worried about their own houses... We don't really have a schedule for the next two days. Well... assuming this stuff doesn't keep happening."

 

" I am ready." Lazarus says. Bowie climbs onto his shoulder again and gives a cute little salute. Lazarus flips up his laptop, pulls out a drawing pad, connects it (after two tries to plug it in the wrong way) and draws a little to pass the time. He also talks with people on the Twynnhraft Forums (very original) and watches TouYube. He tells his highest employee, named Alexica, to take over and consult him on major business decisions.

 

It's a shorter boat ride than you expected.
While two hours is significant, what you see at the mainland is more of a problem.
"Hey Lazarus... There's a few problems, as if your day wasn't already crazy enough... For one, the port? It's completely destroyed, looks like tons of explosives. The guards and citizens... ugh... I don't even know how to describe it. It has to be mages."

A hefty wave hits the side of the boat.
"Right... There's also those. We have to turn around and repor-"

You hit the ceiling. Water floods in from all sides, and everything goes dark faster than you can open your eyes.

You feel yourself float, Bowie's feet gripping into your shoulder.
"I owe you one, figure now isn't a bad time to get you out of their trap."
Two glowing eyes look at you from across the room, a familiar clawed hand held out towards you.
"I can't stop time, only bend it. We don't have forever. Yeah, I was watching. Questions later."

 

I look around for anyone who might be near the Barrier.

 

You see Kai circling the barrier, but that's normal, as far as you're concerned.

You also notice something else, but the moment your gaze gets near it, it seems to vanish.

...But this lingers.

 

OOC: If it's Daras, then I was thinking about something else earlier. If not, ok... let's see what it is.

I go in the direction which I see the thing in.

 

OOC: I thought you were doing this encounter, hence the second quoted part. I have no idea what it is or if you were going anywhere with that.

It seems to be keeping just enough distance to be unidentifiable from here.
Xephyr descends a little bit, keeping below you.

 

"It's fine, I can just deactivate it." She says, walking close to the wooden Artemis.

Artemis reaches her hand toward wooden Artemis' head, it suddenly seizes it before contact is made. A look of shock and terror covers Artemis' face.

"Prohibere Magister" it creaks.

"Y-You talked..." Artemis says, terrified. She tries to pull her hand away, yet her wooden likeness grips tightly.

Artemis looks over to me, noticing my taped mouth. "W-What did you do!?" She says. "Pacem, Tranquillitas." the wooden Artemis creaks, tilting her head.

"A-Aj!" Artemis shouts. I jolt awake, "Huh? Wass happening?" Artemis gives me a panicked look, "Oh god, why did you summon one of those creepy things..." I say, looking over at the wooden Artemis. "Tenebris Mors." it creaks, looking over to me. I seem equally shocked and confused at it's ability to talk.

 

"Give me the word and it's less than dust." Rineth whispers, glancing at Ihra.

 

"I'm sure we can deal with it," I say, looking over at Artemis, "Think it's time?"

Artemis nods, "I think it'd be more fun for us to deal with it."

I possess Artemis, empowering her. Her eyes glow red and she pulls away from the wooden Artemis' grip. A dark scythe appears in her hands; Gaia's Shadow. "Prohibere Mortem, Tenebris Mors." the wooden Artemis creaks, stepping back.

Artemis swings at her wooden version, it jumps out of the way, only having it's legs cut off.

It falls to the ground, having no legs to stand on. "Misericordia!" it creaks, raising a hand and looking at Artemis. Artemis decaptitates it, and burys Gaia's Shadow into it's chest. With a large swing, she throws the body of wooden Artemis away.

Artemis crushes the head with one stomp. "That felt good!" Artemis says, smiling.

 

OOC: I was planning it once I get to the mainland. There's a reason for it happening on the mainland. But if you want me to put something in now, then there is... something close enough to the current location.

"Is it slipping out of your vision too?"

 

"As far as I know, nobody else does. But, at least the gods would probably know."

 

Lazarus moans in a deep tone.
"Jesus Christ... Did you have to overturn the whole boat?!"

 

The remains turn to dust.
"That was... almost too loud. Wake Ihra by surprise, and we'll all be coated in plants." Rineth mumbles.

OOC: Your call.

"Glad it's not just my old eyes. Yeah, I noticed it too."

"Fair point. Though, I am a bit curious... That's an ice hatchling, yet it seems to be rather carefree about the temperature. Are you sure it's healthy?"

It scrambles up a tree, and something inside of you makes you notice a resemblance to a cat.
For now, at least, it's more focused on eating the bark than getting down.

"That's why I'm here. I didn't sink the boat, but if you keep this up, I won't be able to get you out of here alive. So, final offer, I'll answer questions later if you let me help you out of here." Her tone shows frustration at the end.

One of her blades starts glowing, letting you see the water pouring slowly in on all sides.
You can see a ball of energy slowly moving towards the top of the boat.
"That hits, you die. Come on!"

 

"I'm sure we can deal with that." Artemis says, "You realise Artemis can control plants, right?"

Artemis looks over at Ihra, "Though waking her probably isn't the nicest thing to do." "Agreed."

Artemis' eyes stop glowing, leaving 1 red and 1 green eye.

 

"Ok my question isn't important now!" Lazarus follows her command

 

"I know, but it's not dealing with the plants that concerns me, it's that the plant spread is a subconscious reaction. Also, I'm pretty sure she's had enough excitement for one day, give her a break. If you were to equate her to a human, she's seven."

She grabs you and Bowie, then blasts a hole in the side of the boat. You get to see the tunnel effect firsthand; everything's moving faster inside and much slower outside.

As Vei drags you to the mainland, you can see another draconian diving towards the boat in slow motion, slowly turning your way.
The ball of energy turns out to be three, and the moment the tunnel warps back into normalcy, the boat explodes, a huge pillar of water erupting where it was.

"Sorry to do this to you, but they're still on you here."

Everything goes dark.
As your vision slowly comes back, you're in a cave.
"You've had very little prior exposure to magic, but teleportation was the safest escape."
Her blade is sticking in the ground, acting like a torch.
"They aren't finding us here anytime soon, I'll get you on the surface after they give up searching. For now, though, I take it you have questions."

Bowie stays rather fixed on your shoulder, scared.
