"Ok." She summons a snake WITHOUT A RATTLE.

 

"The only things behind me are your arms." Ruby says, grinning.

...that you're close to falling off Rineth's tail.

 

"I meant metaphorically." Eve says, giggling.

 

"I know." She says, still grinning.
"So... I was asked to keep the chip secret to you. Iruk's scared of you."

 

She quietly center herself on Rineth's tail.

 

"Why is he scared of me?" Eve asks, "I have one of his swords."

 

His tail starts moving slowly.
"Get moving." Xephyr whispers hastily, running up towards Rineth's back.

"Because he wants your life." Ruby laughs. "He saw how you reacted to me, and he literally ran into Rineth to hide from you."

 

Cecil follows her at the same pace.

 

After a few minutes of a climb, you find yourself on the back of Rineth, looking off at a comparativey tiny draconian he's talking to.

 

"Who's the..draconian? Is that what your race is called?"

 

"Yes. That's Ihra, she works mostly with life magic."

 

"She's the innocent child?"

 

"Yes. Plenty of forces trying to kill her. Never had a place to call home."

 

"Just like Brisingr..."

 

"M-My life? What do you mean? He wants to kill me!?" Eve asks.

 

"It was home at one point."

"No, he wants to be treated as well as you."

"Of course it is. Should we get off of Rineth?"

 

"Nah, stay up here."

 

Cecil listens in to Ihra and Rineth's conversation.

 

"Are we almost ready to go?"
"Soon, Ihra. We'll need to get the others, plus Xephyr should probably be checked on soon since Eras has been dormant for a while now."
"Right. Did Eve go to sleep?"
"Yes, though Iruk chewed me out over it..."
