Void Rift (rp) - Intermission

I singlemindedly move the hatchling a bit, and then continue speaking. "Well, there are a few of which I know. They are all far away from here though."

 

Artemis sighs.

"Maybe I should get some rest too..." She says in an exhausted tone.

Her eyes begin to glow green as vines encapsulate her arms and legs. A large flower forms and closes in on her as she pulls her arms and legs closer to her body; pulling the green petals of the flower inward.

The flower's petals seal, and thorns begin to form a thick stem; large roots emerge and bury themselves into the ground. The flower begins to pulse ominously, almost like a heart beat.

 

"...Are we all just going to... ... Okay then. Whatever I guess."

 

"Do you know if anyone else knows about them? This one seems pretty remote."

The hatchling objects to being taken from its meal, but turns to another tree after sulking a bit.

"Guess I... Well, I just spent a couple days dead. Rineth, you have things covered?"
"Yep, go on. Just like old times."
"Heh. Sorry I got you killed."
"Some actions are irredeemable."
I look at the ground bitterly.
"I know." I mutter.

"Well, what about that forest you were taking me to before I... well... almost died? I'm also worried about that town... I should probably go and apolgize for causing so much trouble. Could you... Uh... bring me back there?"

 

I begin to mumble in my sleep.

"No...the dinosaurs...ate my homework..."

Artemis' flower continues to pulse ominously.

 

You feel yourself dragged, then nudged constantly.

 

"No mum...I don't want to go to school...they stole my bagel..."

 

You get jolted awake, finding yourself dangling by your feet.
"There are others trying to sleep." Rineth grumbles.

 

"I didn't see anyone following me. I'm not sure who they are, there are several people they could be. But they could be hostile."

OOC: Oh no, I'm keeping Daras away from her.

 

I gasp, but hold myself from screaming.

"Wh-what are you doing?" I say nervously.

 

"Maybe we should go take a look... I can hold off looking around."
She bows to Keila.
"Thank you for seeing us in person."
Keila smiles. "It's nice to know peace is a shared ideal."

Xephyr turns to you, then back north.
"At your word."

"Keeping you from waking Ihra. Unless you give her a reason she both accepts as worthy of waking her up and understands in the first place, I'll be stuck here until she wakes up on her own terms. Also, Artemis looked wiped. At least Ihra isn't trying to eat the flower she put around herself..."

 

I look north towards the Barrier.
"Ok, let's find out who it is."

 

"Why would I want to wake up Ihra? This is my only chance to get any sleep!" I say quietly, "I'd keep Ihra away from Artemis' Flower; those thorns aren't there for display. She could seriously harm her without knowing it, the flower doesn't recognise friends; it's meant to keep people away."

I resist the compelling urge to summon an air-horn to blast Ihra with, even though it'd be hilarous albeit carrying a large price.

 

Xephyr runs ahead and circles the island in order to gain altitude.
"You headed out first or am I?"

"You're sleeptalking. A lot."

 

"A-am I? Heh heh..." I say, embarrassed.

I summon some duct tape in my hand and tape my mouth shut. I give a thumbs up.

 

"This is like a day care... Assuming a day care involved heaps upon heaps of dark magic..." Rineth mumbles.

"Just go to sleep."

 

I walk over to Artemis' flower and sleep a little ways away from it. Nothing is heard from me.

 

"I'll go out first. Follow me."
I fly higher, then I head to the northern side of the Barrier.

 

"Oh right. That. Certainly. As always, follow."

I fly off in the direction of Brisingr.

 

"Why is it always me that gets sentry duty!?"
I grumble to myself.
